Woke Disney’s film starring a liberal star has earned the dubious distinction of being the company’s worst live-action remake in a decade. When Disney announced the remake of its 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, moviegoers were thrilled. They waited roughly eight and a half years since the movie giant touted the potential remake in October 2016.
Red flags began to show when woke star Rachel Zegler began making political statements about Donald Trump, the state of Israel, and feminism. This suggested that the movie would be a leftist propaganda film that would pale in comparison to the original.
According to Fox News, Snow White is now the “worst-performing wide-release live-action remake” in nearly ten years. At the time of this writing it ranks lower than some of the worst remakes, at a meager 1.8 out of 10 on IMDB and 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. On IMDB, Snow White ranks lower than Human Centipede 2, according to Creepy.org.
Unsurprisingly, the reboot is behind on revenue, struggling to earn barely $205 million worldwide, with a total production cost of $410 million. Estimated losses currently stand at a staggering $115 million, proving that going woke equals going broke.
Some of the most glaring controversies concerning the Snow White reboot include Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage criticizing its portrayal of people with dwarfism.
“You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f—–g backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together,” he told comedian Marc Maron. “What the f— are you doing, man?”
His comments disappointed some “dwarf” actors who were hoping to appear on Disney’s Snow White remake, with some telling him to “grow up.” Once again, this proves that wokeism prioritizes virtual signalling over the suffering of the people it pretends to care about.
“It’s taking jobs away from our community that are very few and far between as is,” dwarf actor Dylan Postl told Daily Mail. “When he was cast as a little person role in — Game of Thrones, he had no issue then. Now he wants to be progressive? Come on, man. It’s just so selfish of him. If that is his mindset, then man, you gotta grow up.”
Jeff Brooks, another dwarf actor, also questioned why Disney would rush to erase an entire community based on the opinions of one “privileged” person, according to dwarf Katrina Kemp.
“Are they people gunning for a [Screen Actors Guild] award? No. Peter has the privilege not to [take] the roles,” said Kemp.
“Dwarfs did work in the mines. They did jobs that were easier to complete by people who are small. They worked in mines, manufacturing, they built planes, cars – all kinds of things that involved a cramped space,” Jeff added.
Lauren Brooks said Dinklage was “not king dwarf” and Disney should not have denied people the “right to work.”
Additionally, lead actress Rachel Zegler promotes various leftist causes, including targeting Trump and his supporters, and criticizing the state of Israel.
“May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace,” she said.
Her “free-Palestine” stance also caused tension with her co-star, Israeli-born Gal Gadot, resulting in security concerns for the actor.
Snow White producer Marc Platt’s son, Jonah, also reprimanded the woke actor for undermining his dad’s film.
“Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for,” Jonah said in a now-deleted post.
Having had occasion to see the film, I can say that it wasn’t a BAD movie. It just wasn’t a very GOOD movie. When you see the closing credits, and it shows the vast number of people who worked on this movie, then the fact that it was mediocre (at best) is what makes it a bad film. To have taken so much time, spent so much money, and invested so much manpower in this movie, only for it to have turned out so utterly forgettable – that’s the real reason why it’s so disappointing.
I just spent a week visiting my son, his wife and their 3 beautiful amazing children. They had just returned from a vacation to Disney/Universal Studious. Their sharing of pictures and stories of things they did and saw brought back many wonderful childhood memories – so much like the Disney I remember as a child. Then, it so happened that Snow White was streaming and all the kids wanted to watch it the night we grandparents babysat so the parents could go out for dinner. With parents permission and we grands putting aside concerns we had (since hearing and reading about all the political nonsense and it being the worst rated film by Disney ever) we watched. There was nothing we could see in this movie that wasn’t good old fashioned Disney. There was nothing “woke” about it. We enjoyed it, the grandkids loved it, understood the intended meanings, and even sang “Whistle While You Work” to do the toys and popcorn cleanup after the movie. I still don’t like the actresses comments outside the movie and frankly couldn’t care less if she ever makes a dollar. But I think it’s (we’ve been) terribly unfair to shove under the political bus the entire movie, cast, everything and everyone involved in bringing back this classic. The magic of Disney is still there if you’re young at heart.
One would hope that after this fiasco, RZ would quit with her stupid, bad-for-business, racist comments and go away – but I doubt it. Too bad.
