MSNBC Journo Fears Illegal Aliens Might Get Hurt Escaping Alligator Alcatraz

MSNBC correspondent Julia Ainsley recently voiced her concerns about the risk of detained illegal immigrants sustaining injuries by trying to escape Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz detention center. Ainsley was discussing Trump’s recent visit to the detention facility on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. She lamented that the facility that started as a joke during Trump’s first term had become a reality, as NewsBusters reported.

“When [NBC Correspondent] Gabe [Gutierrez] walked through there, that was soft-sided facilities,” she said. “So not brick and mortar buildings. It’s clearly intentionally being put there really as a symbolic form of deterrence, but possibly a real one too, if there were really injuries to people.”

She added that ICE should not be punitive because it was supposed to detain illegal immigrants awaiting or undergoing their immigration proceedings. 

“But it is not supposed to be like you were sentenced to time in jail, like what you would have done if you had committed a crime and been sent to a Bureau of Prisons facility. And so they’re now deviating from that.”

Unfortunately, most of the ICE detainees have criminal backgrounds or face charges, while others are picked up from prisons. Ainsley has previously admitted that most illegal immigrants detained by ICE have committed crimes. Thus, deep down, she knows that letting them roam freely on the streets is not a good idea.

Similarly, detaining illegal immigrants is necessary for administrative purposes, as it ensures they can be easily presented before a judge. Many illegal immigrants have failed to appear (FTA) during their immigration hearings, while others have escaped during court proceedings.

Under Biden, nearly 2 million illegal immigrants evaded capture, while millions were released without proper vetting due to a lack of detention facilities to hold them long enough for thorough processing. This lack of detention facilities also resulted in the administration losing track of over 300,000 children being trafficked into the country.

Furthermore, illegal immigrants have the freedom to self-deport at a time and place of their choosing without having to be detained and even receive free air tickets.

CNN has also tried to promote the same narrative by claiming that detained illegal immigrants could be at risk of attacks by alligators during storms. However, the facility is built to withstand a Category 2 hurricane.

Florida Director and Senior Attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity told CNN that she was more concerned about the fate of the animals than the detainees housed in the Alligator Alcatraz facility. 

“When it comes to the wildlife, I’m more concerned for the wildlife than the folks on the site,” she said. “I have actually waded in the wetlands not far from that site myself waist-deep in the water, no problem, wasn’t attacked by alligators.”

Besides, the detainees would hardly be in danger of alligator and snake attacks unless they tried to break more laws by escaping legal detention. In fact, many of them swam across the alligator-infested Rio Grande to enter the country illegally.

Similarly, the left and the legacy media hardly lament the crimes committed by illegal immigrants against law-abiding American people. 

Republican Congressman and Florida gubernatorial primary candidate Byron Donalds also called out the left and the media for their hypocrisy over the Alligator Alcatraz detention facility.

“Democrats didn’t care that Biden used similar facilities to hold migrants,” he tweeted. “Democrats oppose Alligator Alcatraz because it solves the problem they created.”
