Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, spoke to her TikTok followers Thursday about her concerns over world events and her personal struggle with what she called “climate anxiety,” as reported by Not The Bee.
Emhoff, 25, posted a video in which she discussed a range of issues she said were weighing heavily on her, including war, human rights, health care, and economic challenges.
“I feel disgust at what’s going on in the world around genocides, the loss of rights, the loss of healthcare, the, just, general fear that everyone has surrounding affordability, their lives, their livelihood, like everything. It’s just, it feels so big,” Emhoff said.
She said environmental concerns were affecting her significantly.
“I think everything with the environment is really [bleeping] getting to me and it is one — I experience a lot of climate anxiety, like a lot of us do.”
At one point, Emhoff laughed before clarifying she wasn’t making light of the matter.
“It’s not funny. I, uh, it’s just like it’s one of those things that’s not funny, but um, you just like nervous laugh about it because it’s scary. It is. It’s, all of these things are happening and like, what are — what, besides the small things that we can do, like fighting for change and protesting. It’s really hard not to sit in those moments where it just feels so heavy.”
Emhoff, who is the daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff from his first marriage, has gained a large social media following since Harris became vice president in 2021.
She has used her platforms to speak on political issues, promote causes, and share personal reflections.

According to surveys from various research organizations, self-reported “climate anxiety” has become more common among young adults, particularly in the United States and Europe.
Emhoff did not elaborate on specific policy measures she supports but referenced activism and protests as ways individuals can respond to global issues. The video did not include comments from Vice President Harris or Doug Emhoff regarding her statements.
She sounds depressed to a level that she should be institutionalized for her own safety. Given her parentage, that is not a surprise.
