Hamas Confirms 20 Hostages Set for Release Ahead of President Trump’s Arrival in Israel

Hamas has confirmed that it is prepared to release 20 living hostages as early as Sunday, one day ahead of schedule, according to multiple reports citing individuals familiar with the negotiations.

The development comes as President Donald Trump prepares to arrive in the region to mark the implementation of the new peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Sources familiar with the arrangement told the Wall Street Journal that the terror organization notified Israeli officials that it intends to proceed with the release sooner than the expected Monday morning timeline.

The hostages were taken during Hamas’s coordinated assault on southern Israel on October 7, 2023—an attack that left more than 1,200 people dead and ignited a conflict that has lasted nearly two years.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that Israel is ready to receive the hostages at any time.

“Israel is prepared and ready to immediately receive all of our hostages,” Netanyahu said following an update from officials overseeing the exchange.

Although the official schedule anticipates the release early Monday, a spokesperson for Netanyahu’s office told CNN that the assumption remains that the transfer will occur at that time, marking exactly 737 days since the hostages were first captured.

According to Netanyahu’s spokeswoman, Shosh Bedrosian, all 20 hostages will be released simultaneously and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“All 20 will be released together at one time to the Red Cross and transported among six to eight vehicles without any sick displays by Hamas, the terror organization,” Bedrosian said.

The planned release is part of a peace deal brokered by President Trump that obligates Hamas to free the remaining captives.

The group is believed to be holding 20 living hostages and at least 28 deceased captives whose remains have yet to be recovered.

The agreement, finalized last week, gives Hamas a 72-hour window to complete the release.

Israeli officials have indicated that additional time may be needed to retrieve the bodies of those who were killed, as Hamas has claimed uncertainty about the exact locations of some remains.

“The IDF has completed its preparations for the release of the hostages and assesses that all of them will be released before Trump’s arrival,” an Israeli source told the Kan public broadcaster.

President Trump is scheduled to arrive in Israel early Monday to address the Knesset before traveling to Egypt as part of a broader regional visit celebrating the peace accord.

His trip will include meetings with both Israeli and Egyptian officials to coordinate the next phase of the agreement, which includes provisions for humanitarian aid and infrastructure rebuilding in Gaza.

Under the terms of the deal, humanitarian assistance will be allowed into the Gaza Strip at levels matching or exceeding those established in January.

The Egyptian Red Crescent confirmed that 400 trucks carrying roughly 9,000 tons of supplies—including medical equipment, flour, fuel, blankets, and mobile sanitation units—are being readied for delivery to Gaza.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized that Israel intends to continue dismantling Hamas’s extensive tunnel network even after the hostage release is complete.

“Our forces must retain the ability to eliminate the remaining sections of Hamas’s underground system,” Katz said, noting that the effort will proceed in coordination with the international reconstruction effort outlined in the peace framework.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Israeli intelligence estimates that roughly 30% to 40% of Hamas’s tunnels have been destroyed since the conflict began.

President Trump unveiled his 20-point peace plan for Israel and Gaza on September 29, a proposal that received broad support from both European and Arab allies.

After several days of mediation, Hamas agreed to the framework on Wednesday, and Israel’s cabinet voted to approve it the following evening.

The agreement marks a major diplomatic milestone aimed at ending the war that has persisted since the October 2023 Hamas attacks and establishing a long-term foundation for Gaza’s reconstruction and regional stability.

  1. And following the captives’ release, MURDER ALL THE HAMAS A-HOLES or, just throw them back in time where they’d be comfortable among their kind, ya know, the other neanderthals.
