Chris Cuomo apparently does not enjoy being on the receiving end of the kind of criticism he once directed at others.
Adam Carolla revealed that the former CNN primetime host contacted him after an old COVID clip returned to the spotlight.
Carolla discussed the exchange on his podcast after retweeting one of Cuomo’s COVID era “bad looks.”
The post revived Cuomo’s own words from a period when he spent 2020 and 2021 lecturing Americans, shaming dissenters, and pushing the official narrative.
According to Carolla, Cuomo was upset about seeing the old segment shared again five years later.
Cuomo responded privately, apparently wondering why Carolla had decided to bring the clip back into public view.
Carolla described the message during his podcast discussion.
He said, “I got a text from Chris Cuomo the other day ’cause I retweeted one of his bad looks.”
The comedian appeared delighted by the unexpected reaction from Cuomo.
Carolla continued, “This is great. And he’s like, “What’s up, bro? Like, what are you doing?””
For Carolla, the answer was straightforward because the retweet consisted of Cuomo’s own comments.
He said his response was, “I’m just retweeting what you said.”
Carolla then unloaded on the commentary Cuomo delivered during COVID.
He said, “Like, listen, everybody, you said a lot of stupid shit during COVID, and I got a lot of shit foisted on me thanks to people like you saying a lot of stupid shit, and so did Aaron Rodgers.”
The passage of time did not make Carolla less willing to revisit those statements.
Instead, it formed a central part of his answer as he added, “So now it’s five years later.”
Carolla also acknowledged that many people are unhappy about seeing the arguments from that period dragged back into public discussion. He said, “I know a lot of people don’t like the fact that it’s being relitigated.”
His response to those complaints was blunt and unapologetic.
Carolla declared, “Perhaps you should have shut the fuck up back then.”
Carolla argued that sharing an opinion was different from targeting people who disagreed.
He said, “You can give your opinion. Stop attacking people.”
He then framed the renewed criticism as a direct consequence of the attacks made during that period.
Carolla said, “You attacked people, and now people are rubbing it back in your face.”

The clip behind the dispute came from a 2020 installment of Cuomo Prime Time.
During that CNN segment, Cuomo went after Dr. Scott Atlas and “the Trumpers” for questioning the Fauci orthodoxy surrounding masks, social distancing, and isolating the elderly.
Cuomo was in full scold mode as he delivered his warning about the consequences of ignoring that guidance.
He warned that Thanksgiving could be people’s “last” if they did not fall in line.
Carolla did not add a lengthy explanation when he circulated the footage again. Instead, he attached the short and mocking caption, “This aged nicely.”

That retweet was enough to prompt Cuomo’s private message and set up Carolla’s harsh podcast response.
Rather than retreat, Carolla emphasized that he had merely shared Cuomo’s own words and made clear why he believed those comments deserved renewed scrutiny.
The exchange ultimately placed Cuomo in the uncomfortable position of confronting an old segment that Carolla viewed as one of his COVID “bad looks.”
Five years later, Carolla showed no interest in letting the former CNN host escape the backlash surrounding what he had said.
