Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean traded the concert stage for the White House briefing room Thursday, stepping behind the podium before their tour stop in Washington, D.C.
The country stars took turns at the microphone while friends and others watched the playful scene unfold.
The visit soon became a mock press briefing, with Bryan pretending to answer questions from the familiar White House podium.
Aldean, his wife Brittany and others in the room smiled as Bryan settled into his temporary role.
A video shared on Instagram by the Trump team highlighted Bryan trying his hand at the job ahead of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s upcoming departure.
The account joked that Bryan had heard there was an opening for press secretary.
The clip begins with Aldean moving away from the podium and giving Bryan his turn.
Bryan approaches the microphone as Brittany Aldean and the other people gathered in the room look on.
Once in position, Bryan jokingly responds to a question involving an agricultural issue in Texas.
His answer focused on New World screwworms and the use of sterile male flies.
“I think the screwworms are screwed,” Bryan said.
He then continued, “We’ve immobilized sterile male flies,” before excitedly pointing toward a woman who applauded his response.
Bryan appeared pleased that his answer landed with the room.
“See! I’ve been listening to our conversations!” he said as the lighthearted briefing continued.

New World screwworms are a parasitic threat to livestock, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has used sterile flies in efforts to fight their spread.
Bryan reportedly met with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins while visiting Washington, D.C.
Bryan and Aldean were in the nation’s capital for their joint “Double Down Tour” performance at Nationals Park.
Bryan also reportedly spent time with Vice President JD Vance before the two country stars visited the briefing room.
The longtime friends have known each other for nearly two decades.
Their stop at one of Washington’s most recognizable podiums offered a little entertainment before they returned to the stage for their scheduled show.
The press secretary joke followed President Donald Trump’s announcement earlier this month that Leavitt would leave her White House position at the end of August.
Trump said she was stepping away so she could spend more time with her family.
Leavitt recently returned after giving birth to her second child and will remain one of Trump’s top outside advisers.
She became the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary when she took the position at 27.
Although Aldean has spoken openly about supporting Trump, Bryan has generally kept his political opinions away from the spotlight.
In 2022, Bryan faced backlash after bringing Ron DeSantis, then governor of Florida, onto the stage during a Jacksonville concert following Hurricane Ian.
Bryan responded by explaining that the appearance centered on helping hurricane victims rather than politics.
“I’ve generally stayed out of politics throughout my career,” he shared on X, adding that when a governor requests help raising awareness for victims of a natural disaster, “you help.”
Bryan has also discussed his reluctance to enter controversial conversations because remarks can quickly take on a life of their own online.
During an October 2024 appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” he recalled an interview from early in his career that he believed had been taken out of context.
“They’ll take your five minutes right out of context,” Bryan said during the podcast.
His comments reflected the caution he has maintained around political subjects and modern media coverage.
Aldean, meanwhile, has publicly described Trump as a friend. Following the July 2024 assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Aldean dedicated
“Try That In A Small Town” to him during a concert.
Aldean and Brittany also attended the 2024 Republican National Convention, where they sat near Trump.
Thursday’s White House appearance struck a considerably lighter note as Aldean and Bryan turned the briefing room into a setting for some playful entertainment.
