Trump’s Allegations and Meta’s Denial
Former President Donald Trump recently claimed that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told him in a phone call that he wouldn’t vote for a Democrat in this year’s elections. Trump further indicated that his relationship with Zuckerberg has evolved into a friendship, and suggests that the pair have recently spoke on the phone. Zuckerberg’s company, Meta, however, has firmly denied these assertions, stating that Zuckerberg has not endorsed any candidate either publicly or privately.
Trump made the claims during an interview with New York Magazine, describing how Zuckerberg responded to the former president’s attempted assassination by calling him and insisting that he could not in good faith vote for a Democrat in the wake of the attack.
“He said ‘I will never vote for the people running against you after watching what you did,’” Trump told New York Magazine.
The comments ring true, too, as Zuckerberg publicly stated that Trump’s decision to pump his fist in the air and shout “Fight!” in response to the attack was one of the most “badass” things he had ever seen.
In response to Trump’s comments, however, Meta sought to backtrack. The company claimed that Trump was wrong, and that Mark is “not endorsing anybody in this race and has not communicated to anybody how he intends to vote.”
The comment neither proves nor disproves what Trump said. In admitting that Zuckerberg is not endorsing Harris, however, the company has effectively admitted that Zuckerberg is now one of the most influential Big Tech tycoons who is not backing Harris in 2024.
With X CEO Elon Musk on board, and even liberal artists like Elton John expressing their appreciation for Trump, could 2024 be the turning point that Team Trump has been waiting for since Hillary Clinton launched her Russiagate claims against him?
Maybe…
