White House Exposed Altering Biden’s Transcript of the “Garbage” Remarks Demonizing Trump Supporters
White House edited President Joe Biden’s “garbage” remarks demonizing Trump supporters despite their stenographer’s objection that it constituted a breach of protocol and violation of the Presidential Records Act.
Biden was responding to Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally describing Puerto Rico as an island of floating garbage. “I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” the comedian said, which liberals immediately pretended to be offended by in a bid to win over Puerto Ricans (who already overwhelmingly vote Democrat).
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American,” President Biden said during a virtual Kamala Harris campaign call.
However, the White House altered Biden’s original statement by adding an apostrophe to read “supporter’s” without the approval of the stenography team. White House was trying to contain the incident after reporters started asking for a clarification of Biden’s statements.
The original transcript sent to the Press Office used “supporters” but the changes were effected “after the press office conferred with the president.”
Quoting two U.S. government officials, the Associated Press reported that the stenography team objected to the changes. They indicated that any modifications to the original statements must be approved by the supervisor, who was not immediately available to review the audio.
Nonetheless, the WH Press Office proceeded to release the altered transcript on the White House website and social media pages.
However, an internal email from the White House Stenography Office obtained by the media outlet described the alteration as “a breach of protocol and spoliation of transcript integrity between the Stenography and Press Offices.”
It also explained that although the Press Office could opt to withhold the transcript, unilaterally altering official records was not allowed.
“If there is a difference in interpretation, the Press Office may choose to withhold the transcript but cannot edit it independently,” the supervisor said.
The director of White House Stenography has also distanced his team from the altered transcript, saying rush drafts/excerpts the Stenography Office sends to the Press Office are not intended for public distribution.
Nonetheless, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates has defended Biden saying he was addressing the comedian and not demonizing all Trump supporters.
Democratic presidential candidate Harris also defended Biden claiming he does not demonize “people based on who they vote for.”
Meanwhile, the stenographer supervisor has released the original version which differs from the distro circulated by the Press Office.
“Our Stenography Office transcript — released to our distro, which includes the National Archives — is now different than the version edited and released to the public by Press Office staff.”
House Republicans are also mulling over the possibility of launching an investigation into White House staff for “releasing a false transcript.”
“White House staff cannot rewrite the words of the President of the United States to be more politically on message,” they said.
They requested White House Counsel Edward Siskel to preserve all documents and internal communications related to the release of the altered transcript and demanded the publication of the original version.
Laws, procedures, protocol come on man, liberals above all that stuff.
