Dopey Denver Mayor Mike Johnson Ready To Go to Jail To Protect Illegal Immigrants From Deportation

The Mayor of Denver City, Colorado, Mike Johnson, claims he’s willing to go to jail to prevent the deportation of illegal immigrants. 

Denver is among numerous blue cities that have passed sanctuary ordinances to protect the illegal immigrants plaguing their communities from deportation. Trump has promised the largest mass deportation of illegal immigrants in America’s history – and the left is freaking out.  

Trump’s “border czar,” former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tom Homan, has threatened to arrest leaders who attempt to interfere with the planned deportations.

“Trump’s new border czar, Tom Homan, has said that he is willing to arrest leaders like yourself for standing in the way of these policies that they want to enact.

“Would you be willing to go to jail for these things?” 9News’ Marc Sallinger asked Johnson.

“Yeah, I’m not afraid of that, and I’m also not seeking that,” he responded.

The Mayor also insisted on civil disobedience if federal agents attempted to remove illegal immigrants from the city.

“You talk about civil disobedience. You’ve mentioned that a couple of times. Now, would you be willing to participate in those as Mayor of Denver?” Sallinger asked.

“I would if I believe that our residents are having their rights violated. If I think things are happening that are illegal, or immoral, or un-American in our city, I would certainly protest it and I would expect other residents would do the same.”

Johnson has also said that all options were on the table and that Americans, including “terrified” schoolchildren, would not sit and watch their classmates of undocumented immigration status deported.

“I talked to some high school kids this week who were terrified about this. I don’t think those kids are gonna stand there and watch three of their classmates get pulled out of a history class while the other 27 stand by and do nothing.”

Mayor Johnson has also threatened to incite people to protest against Trump’s deportations and deploy Denver Police officers to stop federal agents from executing deportation orders.

“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston told Denverite. 

“It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.” 

Johnson has since tried to take back those statements but insists that he would still oppose the deportation of illegal immigrants.

Prior to the election, most Americans expressed their opposition to illegal immigration and followed through by handing President Trump a landslide victory. Yet, the Democratic elite is still in denial and refuses to honor the will of the American voters.

Meanwhile, Denver remains a hotspot for illegal immigration, recording up to 10,000 arrivals per day in 2023. With a population of just about 710,000, the city hosts 40,000 undocumented individuals, becoming the most impacted per capita.

Additionally, the city offers illegal immigrants government assistance, such as food and shelter, including paid hotel stays, to help them illegally settle in the United States. 

Subsequently, the migrant crisis cost Denver over $60 million, while the city’s budget deficit reached about $120 million, resulting in cutbacks in various services. Denver Health, part of the city’s “safety net” that also treats illegal immigrants regardless of their ability to pay, has unpaid medical bills amounting to $10 million.

Denver started sending illegal immigrants who exceeded their stay in shelters onto the city streets in February 2024. While some left or found shelter elsewhere, the crisis fueled homelessness, crime, drug abuse, housing shortage, and skyrocketing rent prices.

And in the mind of a liberal leader, stopping someone from cleaning this mess up is worth going to jail over.
