Trump to Overhaul White House Briefings by Allowing Independent Media Figures to Attend
President-elect Donald Trump is considering allowing non-mainstream media figures to attend White House press briefings next year, which could include personalities like Megyn Kelly and Joe Rogan.
Donald Trump Jr. made the explosive announcement on an episode of his podcast, “Triggered with Donald Trump Jr.,” while speaking with Michael Knowles.
According to Trump Jr., White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt could rearrange seating arrangements in the press briefing room to accommodate all media figures.
“I wonder now, as your father is assembling his team, as maybe Karoline Leavitt is looking at the new press briefing room chart, maybe it’s time to reorder that chart and maybe take away some people’s seats,” said Knowles.
“We’re gonna break some news here,” replied Trump Jr.
“I literally had this conversation with—I was flying back, I was on the plane with my father, I think it was coming back from the SpaceX launch with Elon [Musk] last week.”
“And we were talking about the podcast world and some of our friends and Rogan and guys like you.”
“And so that may be in the works,” he continued.
“That’s going to blow up some heads, so we’ll see.”
“If the New York Times has lied, they’ve been adverse to everything, they’re functioning as the marketing arm of the Democrat Party, why not open it up to people who have larger viewerships, stronger followings?” Trump Jr. asked.
Mistrust in the mainstream media is at an all-time high, so the public would likely welcome the opportunity for non-traditional journalists to take part in official press briefings.
As we highlighted last year, almost two-thirds of Americans believe the media is now “truly the enemy of the people.”
According to a new Rasmussen poll, 59 percent of likely voters either strongly or somewhat agree that the media is the enemy of the people.
The poll further noted that among Democrats, there had been an 11-point drop in trust in the media, a signal that the tide may be turning.
But overall, a majority of 52 percent of Americans say they don’t trust political news being pumped out by the controlled establishment media.
