Outgoing President Joe Biden continues his obsession with commuting the sentences of convicted individuals. In his latest clemency spree, he commuted the sentences of 2,500 individuals handed long prison sentences for various drug offenses.
“Today’s clemency action provides relief for individuals who received lengthy sentences based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine, as well as outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes,” Biden stated.
The outgoing president said his commutations aimed at “righting historic wrongs” by equalizing “sentencing disparities” according to the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 and the First Step Act of 2018.
However, he also seemingly aimed to outdo every other president in America’s recent history by issuing the most pardons.
“With this action, I have now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any president in U.S. history,” the ‘diminished’ president gloated.
Biden’s long history of dishing out presidential pardons.
In December 2024, he commuted the federal death sentences of 37 of the 40 most notorious criminals convicted of various heinous crimes, including multiple murders.
By doing so, the outgoing president denied the victims’ families closure by prioritizing the rights of violent criminals, which they relinquished by committing those crimes, over justice for the innocent victims.
Since then, two former death row inmates refused to sign the commutation letters, claiming innocence, while another demanded unconditional release, terming his solitary confinement as inhumane.
While commuting their sentences to life in prison without the possibility of parole, Biden said he intended to prevent the Trump administration from carrying out the executions.
Before that, President Biden also commuted the sentences of 1,500 individuals convicted of nonviolent offenses and pardoned 39 others. They included a corrupt judge involved in the “kids-for-cash” scheme that incarcerated minors for petty offenses in exchange for kickbacks amounting to millions of dollars.
Biden claimed that the individuals had “reintegrated into their families and communities” and “shown commitment to making their communities stronger and safer.”
However, some of the crimes committed by Biden’s clemency beneficiaries had irreparably damaged the victims’ lives, including one of the juvenile subjects of the “kids-for-cash” scheme who committed suicide.
The outgoing president also pardoned his son Hunter Biden for a decade’s worth of federal crimes that he “has committed or may have committed” between Jan. 1, 2014, and Dec. 1, 2024. Biden intervened in the justice process despite consistently lying to Americans that he would honor the court’s decision. During his clemency, Hunter was awaiting sentencing after he was convicted of federal gun crimes and tax evasion.
In June 2024, Biden also pardoned over 2,000 former military officers who violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice’s Article 125 by engaging in same-sex relationships.
Meanwhile, Biden says he would “continue to review additional commutations and pardons” before leaving office. Political experts have suggested that the outgoing president could pardon his close political allies and key administration figures to protect them from a potential Trump investigation and prosecution.
the biden crime family is going out with a final blow to the Country by compromising our safety and unleashing a crime wave on America. Monday can’t come soon enough.
