Jim Acosta Rumored to be Leaving CNN after Demotion to Midnight Time Slot

UPDATE: HE’S OUT!

The Status newsletter reported Monday that Acosta was expected to leave CNN after it was announced last week that his 10 a.m. ET program was being replaced with “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown” in the network’s latest reshuffling.

The newsletter previously reported that Acosta was pitched by CNN CEO Mark Thompson to move him from his one-hour slot at 10 a.m. ET to a two-hour slot beginning at midnight, a far less distinguished place in the lineup.

One CNN insider told Fox News Digital they heard Acosta “struggled with the choice” and may be cutting his contract short as a result.

Original article:

Uh oh, sounds like there’s more trouble over at CNN.

Yesterday, Tennessee Republican Representative Tim Burchett nuked CNN’s Jim Acosta live on air.

Acosta sanctimoniously asked Rep Burchett to “tell the truth” when refuting something the Congressman had said.

Congressman Burchett then pointed out that more people watch Spongebob reruns than CNN.

The Spongebob zing must have some truth to it, because just a day later, Acosta learned that he would lose his coveted 10:00 AM time slot at the network.

CNN announced today that Acosta has been demoted to the graveyard shift. His show will now air at midnight on the struggling news network.

Apparently the network is committed to change after Trump’s overwhelming election victory.

Acosta has been a vocal Trump opponent, even having his White House press credentials revoked during the last Trump presidency.

Acosta is apparently not taking the demotion well. Rumor has it that he has threatened to leave CNN.

But where would he go? His fellow CNN anchor, Don Lemon, tried to make it in independent journalism after leaving CNN.

It didn’t go so well.
