Apple Fixes “Glitch” That Transcribes “Trump” When Users Say “Racist”

Apple has announced that it has fixed a so-called “bug” in its voice-to-text software that caused the word “racist” to be transcribed as “Trump.”

The issue first gained attention after TikTok users noticed the error and shared viral videos demonstrating the glitch. Later, Alex Jones highlighted the problem in a video posted on Infowars.

The New York Post reported:

Apple is fixing a bug that caused its voice-to-text dictation software to mistakenly transcribe the word “racist” as “Trump,” the company said on Wednesday.

The glitch, which was called out by users on TikTok and other social media platforms, occurred for certain words that include the “R” consonant.

When users activated the transcription feature and said the word “racist,” the word “Trump” would briefly appear before it displayed the correct word.

The Associated Press also covered the issue, reporting:

Apple is fixing a bug within the dictation feature on some iPhones that briefly suggests the word “Trump” when a word with an R consonant is spoken, including “racist.”

The company is responding to the controversy after some iPhone owners posted videos on social media this week to detail how the glitch works.

When users activated the dictation feature and said the word “racist,” the word “Trump” appeared in the text window before quickly being replaced by the correct word, according to various videos posted online.

Apple acknowledged the issue and confirmed that a fix was being implemented.

“We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix today,” Apple said in a statement to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

  1. A bug is an incident caused by a coding error. This is not a coding error, it was obviously intentional. The fact that they could identify the one line of code in the entire process so quickly is pretty indicative. Apple and the bulk of it’s owners and staff are pretty open about their politics and bias and their childish nature is not uknown. These are the same kind of people who removed all the Ws from computer keyboards in the White House when Bill & Hillary left.
