Elon Musk, the billionaire innovator and vocal critic of government waste, has blown the whistle on what he calls “magic money computers” hidden deep within federal agencies.
During an explosive conversation on Senator Ted Cruz’s Verdict podcast, Musk revealed that these machines operate independently, spewing out trillions of dollars with little to no oversight, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Musk explained that 14 of these computers have been discovered within key government agencies, including the Treasury Department, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Defense (DOD), and the State Department.
The stunning admission suggests that Washington’s reckless spending habits are even more out of control than the public realizes. During the interview, Cruz prompted Musk to explain the so-called “magic money computers,” asking:
“Now, one of the things you told me about is what you called Magic Money Computers at the Treasury. Tell us about it because I had never heard of that until you brought it up.”
Musk’s response was nothing short of shocking.
“Okay, so you may think that the government computers all talk to each other, synchronize, add up what funds are going where, and that it’s coherent. And that the numbers, for example, that you’re presented as a senator are actually the real numbers.”
Cruz interjected, “One would think.”
Musk continued, “One would think. They’re not.”
The billionaire then elaborated on how these computers operate autonomously, issuing payments without proper reconciliation.
“They’re not totally wrong, but they’re probably off by 5% or 10% in some cases. I call a magic money computer any computer that can just make money out of thin air. Best magic money.”
Cruz, clearly intrigued, pressed for more details: “How does that work?”
Musk bluntly responded, “It just issues payments.”
Cruz, seemingly baffled, sought clarity: “You said there’s something like 11 of these computers at Treasury that are sending out trillions in payments?”

Musk confirmed, “They’re mostly at Treasury. Some are at HHS, some at… there’s one or two at State, some at DOD. I think we’ve found 14 magic money computers.”
Cruz reiterated, “Fourteen, okay.”
Musk doubled down on the outrageous nature of the system, adding, “They just send money out of nothing.”
This revelation raises serious questions about the federal government’s fiscal responsibility—or lack thereof. If even a fraction of Musk’s claims hold up, it means taxpayers are footing the bill for an out-of-control system hemorrhaging cash with no accountability. Washington has long been accused of reckless spending, but Musk’s claim paints an even darker picture—one where bureaucrats have essentially been running a money-printing operation behind closed doors.
The government demands accountability from everyday Americans when it comes to taxes and finances, yet its own books appear to be riddled with discrepancies. While Musk’s remarks will likely ignite debates about government spending and transparency, one thing is clear: the swamp’s financial incompetence is even deeper than we thought.
