Details about the far-Left Biden appointed judge who attempted to block Trump’s USAID aid freeze have emerged. Despite mounting evidence of wasteful programs on which the agency was spending American taxpayers’ money, Judge Amir Ali ruled that the Trump administration had failed to prove why the aid freeze was necessary.
“At least to date, Defendants have not offered any explanation for why a blanket suspension of all congressionally appropriated foreign aid, which set off a shockwave and upended reliance interests for thousands of agreements with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations around the country, was a rational precursor to reviewing programs,” Judge Ali stated.
Ali’s shocking ruling also required Trump to pay USAID’s pending international bills within 24 hours, which the federal government appealed and the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily paused Ali’s orders pending further review.
Meanwhile, details of the far-Left activist judge have emerged, casting a long shadow on his USAID ruling. Judge Ali donated thousands of dollars to various progressive candidates, including Joe Biden during his 2020 campaign against Trump and former DNC Chair Jamie Harrison for his South Carolina U.S. Senate race.
Describing himself as “one of few people of North African or Middle Eastern descent, one of few immigrants to the country, and one of few Muslim Americans,” Ali also advocated for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the legal profession. The Biden judge also supported the Appellate Project that called for more representation of minorities and people of color in the appellate profession.
Additionally, Judge Ali opposed Trump’s travel ban during his first term in the White House, which targeted several Islamic countries that immensely contributed to terrorism in the United States and worldwide. Back then, he described Trump’s order as a “campaign of animus against people of the Muslim faith” and accused Trump of having a history of hatred against the Muslim people.
Additionally, the MacArthur Justice Center, of which Judge Ali was the executive director, advocated for dropping felony charges against Black Lives Matter rioters involved in deadly clashes and wanton destruction of property. The group also campaigned for defunding the police. Deeply involved in leftist activism, it remains unclear which role his ideological belief played in the anti-Trump USAID ruling.
However, Judge Ali is hardly the only Leftist judge attempting to halt Trump’s attempt to clean the federal government. Obama Judge Paul Engelmayer also blocked the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing Treasury systems at the request of anti-Trump New York Attorney General Letitia James and more than a dozen Democrat state attorneys general.
U.S. District Judge John McConnell also compared Trump to a tyrant and his first four years to the American Civil War and the Jim Crow era.
The leftist judge also sits on the board of a federally financed NGO. Judge Engelmayer is facing impeachment proceedings filed by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) while Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) has started impeachment proceedings for Judge McConnell.
“If these partisan judges want to be politicians, they should resign and run for office,” Rep. Clyde stated.
Similarly, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) has also filed articles of impeachment against Judge Ali, who he described as a “woke political activist” who built his career attacking the police and Trump.
