The Democratic Party’s loose cannons, Jasmine Crockett (TX) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), might be on a collision course after the Texas Democrat started campaigning for a seat that the New York Congresswoman has previously vied for and likely plans to pursue.
According to Politico, Rep. Crockett has been sending text messages, emails, and discussing with fellow Democrats, hinting that she was the best choice for the House Oversight Committee, soon to be vacated by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA).
“Crockett has told other lawmakers that she’s ‘made for the moment,’ the people said, an apparent reference to the desire among Democratic voters for more forceful resistance to President Donald Trump,” Politico reported.
She also told the outlet that “knowing that Rep Connolly doesn’t plan to seek re-election & knowing that our oversight powers are broad, I’m ready to shine a light on the very dark things taking place in our country under this administration.”
“I wouldn’t want anyone to think that I’m not interested in leading our investigative body while also communicating & educating the country on our findings,” she added.
However, the far-left Squad member AOC vied for the same position and ultimately lost to Rep. Connolly by an overwhelming majority of 131-84, suggesting that she could seek to replace the outgoing Congressman.
When asked if she intends to run, AOC did not rule out that possibility by saying it was “something that I’m weighing, but the seat is not yet vacated, and I think that’s a bridge we can cross when we get to it.”
Soon, the two blabbermouths might take a break from attacking the Trump administration and start taking jabs at each other. Considering that both Crockett and AOC cannot play the female or LGBTQ card, the Texas Democrat might have the upper hand by playing the race card.
However, AOC is far more experienced and more strategic in her outbursts than Crockett, who seems to be reactive and less calculating, thus more of a liability. In fact, Republicans have recommended putting Crockett on camera more often to finish off the Democratic Party, which currently polls at 21%.
While President Trump has expressed his disdain for both Crockett and AOC, his attack on the Texas Democrat, whom he described as “lowlife” and a “very low-IQ person,” seems more damaging for her leadership ambitions.
“They have a new one, Crockett. How about her? Is that real? Are they serious about that? That’s their new star? If that’s their new star, they’re in serious trouble,” Trump said.
However, Trump has had an occasional praise for AOC, even saying, “She’s got a spark that’s pretty amazing.” He also encouraged her to continue pursuing the seat when she lost to Connolly.
“Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party. She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!”
However, her radical left ideas, including the Green New Deal and her membership to the seemingly anti-Semitic “the Squad” group, do not sit well with Trump.
Ultimately, the decision won’t lie with Trump and the Republicans, but with the Democratic Party, whose leader, Kamala Harris, cannot decide on who she likes the most.
Besides Crockett and AOC, other potential candidates include Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Maxwell Frost (D-FL), and Robert Garcia (D-CA).
