On Sunday, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) stepped up the arrest of illegal immigrants by apprehending nearly 1,000 undocumented individuals. Approximately four hundred illegal immigrants were detained on the first day of Trump’s post-inauguration raids, making the latest development a significant milestone.
Among the 956 illegal immigrants arrested on Sunday were individuals with various records, including domestic violence, driving under the influence of alcohol, and weapon charges.
ICE Miami field office for Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), which covers Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, detailed some of the detainees’ criminal profiles.
The field office said it had slapped the cuffs on a Dominican Republic national in Puerto Rico. He was charged with domestic violence. A second Dominican Republic national was also arrested, and ICE says he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
A Nicaraguan illegal immigrant was also placed in ICE’s custody. He was booked at the Broward County Jail with pending aggravated assault with a deadly, unlawful concealed carry of a firearm, discharge of a weapon in public, and driving with a suspended license charges.
Similarly, a Jamaican illegal alien was also taken by ICE from Broward County Jail. He had been charged with oxycodone possession, “display of a firearm during felony offense, & operating motor vehicle without a valid license.”
Another illegal immigrant detained by ICE was a Mexican national pulled from the Martin County Jail in Stuart, Florida.
“He’s charged with traffic offenses and has multiple DUI convictions. #ICE protects America by enforcing US immigration laws to preserve national security & public safety,” the Miami field office stated on X.
On Sunday, ICE placed 554 detainers in preparation for the deportation of numerous illegal immigrants swept across the country.
Appearing on ABC News’ “This Week,” Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, disclosed that the enforcement and removal operations would rapidly expand in the coming days to target profiles other than national security threats.
“You’re going to see the numbers steadily increase, the number of arrests nationwide as we open up the aperture,” said Homan. “Right now, it’s concentrating on public safety threats, national security threats. That’s a smaller population. So we’re going to do this on a priority basis. That’s President Trump’s promise. But as that aperture opens, there’ll be more arrests nationwide.”
Meanwhile, Democrats continue to fight the removal of illegal aliens from the country. Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker told CNN’s “State of the Union” that local law enforcement would “stand up for those law-abiding, undocumented people.”
According to the U.S. Constitution, entering the country illegally is a crime punishable by fines and up to six months in prison for first offenders and longer sentences for repeat offenders.
However, Gov. Pritzker slammed Trump’s administration for arresting “law-abiding” illegal aliens, usually detained as collaterals during the ongoing raids.
“Now, what they’re also doing, though, and it’s quite disturbing, is they’re going after people who are law-abiding, who are holding down jobs, who have families here who may have been here for a decade or two decades, and they’re often our neighbors and our friends.”
Homan has repeatedly stated that no person illegally in the country was off limits. He also threatened sanctuary states with more enforcement agents, which would result in more collateral arrests.

With the 11M illegals released into this country in the last 4 years, it will take 211 years to deport them at this current rate. It’s early in the game so lets wait and see.
