Vice President JD Vance attacked journalist Josh Kraushaar over his recent hit piece in The Jewisher Insider, which focused on his views on U.S. foreign intervention.
Describing the publication as an “anti-JD rag,” Vance noted it included anonymous Republican sources, who criticized his stance against bombing Houthi rebels in Yemen—the topic discussed in a group chat that included The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg.
Vance highlighted several inaccuracies in the article, including Kraushaar’s claims that the Houthis killed three Americans last January.
Correcting the error, Vance stated, “Actually, the group responsible for that attack was ‘Islamic Resistance in Iraq,’ which is an entirely different militia group,” adding, “You might say this is evidence of Kraushaar being the biggest hack in Washington, and you may be correct.”
Vance continued, “Another very plausible explanation is that he’s the dumbest journalist in Washington. Either way, shocking an error like this could get through his vaunted editorial process!”
Donald Trump Jr. jumped in to defend Vance, accusing those quoted in the article of being part of the same group of Republican RINOs who “constantly trashed my father behind his back for years.”
Trump’s son stated those individuals were part of the same “swamp” that has consistently undermined his father.
The article also highlights remarks made by Republican lawmakers who were critical of Vance’s stance on U.S. involvement in Yemen.
Vance said the U.S. should avoid military strikes against the Houthis, arguing they are more of a threat to European nations than the United States.
Vance suggested that airstrikes were primarily aimed at “bailing Europe out again,” which ignited backlash from some GOP senators.
One senator described the vice president’s position as “very disappointing,” expressing shock that Vance didn’t support striking back when the Houthis allegedly targeted U.S. naval vessels.
Another lawmaker argued that Vance had a “narrow view” on how the U.S. should engage in foreign conflicts.
Vance hasn’t been shy about voicing his anti-interventionist views throughout his career, notably when he strongly opposed U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
While many GOP senators disagreed with Vance’s position on getting involved in foreign conflicts, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) said the debate is a necessary part of healthy political discourse.
“When things aren’t confidential, then people don’t feel free to express themselves,” Cornyn remarked.

The important takeaway from this whole situation is that VP Vance, though disagreeing with the President on whether to bomb the Houthis or not, did not break with the President nor did he disparage the President as so many of these RINO’s have done. He’s still on board with President Trump and the MAGA/America First agenda. He’s the good troop who counsels honestly and then says “yes sir,” and moves on.
