Jim Jordan Calls on Kash Patel to Release Trump-Russia Hoax Cover-Up Docs

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan is calling on FBI Director Kash Patel to release documents on the Trump-Russia collusion investigation. The FBI’s role in the now-debunked Crossfire Hurricane probe was marred by bias and politically motivated efforts to derail President Donald Trump’s first term.

Now, Jordan is demanding transparency, making it clear in a March 2025 letter that this Committee is determined to “fully assess and understand the lengths to which the FBI went to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.” The Ohio Republican has requested the FBI turn over all documents relating to the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the alleged ties between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.

Jordan noted that former FBI Director Christopher Wray had repeatedly withheld the documents.

“During the 117th and 118th Congresses, the Committee sent several letters requesting information and documents concerning the FBI’s failings in opening and conducting an investigation—code named ‘Crossfire Hurricane’—into debunked allegations of collusion between President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Russian government,” Jordan stated.

“Unfortunately, former Director Wray failed to produce many of these materials before he resigned.”

Jordan’s letter referenced Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 report, which ultimately concluded that “neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion” when launching the Crossfire Hurricane probe. The report also criticized the FBI for continuing to push the false narrative without any viable reasoning.

The FBI ignored intelligence that Hillary Clinton’s campaign worked to fabricate ties between Trump and Russia to “stir up a scandal” to influence the 2016 election. While Wray claimed the agency made “corrective actions” to prevent future abuses, Jordan wasn’t convinced.

“Tellingly, however, former Director Wray and former Attorney General Merrick Garland refused the Committee’s repeated requests for relevant records, including records comparing the Crossfire Hurricane investigation to the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton,” Jordan wrote.

Among Jordan’s requests was the submission of all FBI records relating to the Steele dossier—the discredited report compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, which was instrumental in justifying the FISA surveillance on former Trump campaign associate Carter Page. The Steele dossier, funded by Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the Democratic National Committee via law firm Perkins Coie, was later found to be fake.

Jordan now demands that the FBI provide all communications and records related to its use in the Trump-Russia probe. Other requested documents include:

  • All FISA applications and returns related to Crossfire Hurricane
  • All FBI interviews conducted as part of the Trump-Russia investigation
  • All briefing materials provided to senior government officials on Crossfire Hurricane

Jordan is also requesting access to the “CF – CH Comparison” document, which was compiled during Durham’s investigation and compares the treatment of Trump’s campaign investigation with the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email probe. The letter also highlights that Hillary Clinton personally approved a plan to fabricate the Trump-Russia narrative and fuel media reports, as per the Durham findings.

The plans were briefed to then-President Barack Obama, then-Vice President Joe Biden, and then-CIA Director John Brennan. They worked in unison with the FBI, which failed to open an inquiry into Clinton’s campaign activities. Meanwhile, Marc Elias, a former Perkins Coie lawyer and Clinton’s campaign attorney, also pushed the Steele dossier by hiring Fusion GPS—the firm that retained Steele.

Another Perkins Coie attorney, Michael Sussmann, was later charged by Durham for lying to the FBI about the now-debunked Trump-Alfa Bank connection. Jordan requested that Patel comply with these document requests by early April as the Committee reviews Durham’s final findings.
