U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has ordered the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to return two transgender female inmates (biological men who identify as women) to female prisons. The order also directed the Bureau of Prisons to continue providing them with hormone therapy using taxpayers’ dollars.
On January 20, President Trump signed the “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” executive order. It assigned gender based on biological sex rather than “gender identity,” thus banning the incarceration of biological men in women’s facilities to prevent opportunistic criminals from falsely claiming to be female to access women’s facilities. It also banned medical procedures for inmates with gender dysphoria.
“The Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security shall ensure that males are not detained in women’s prisons or housed in women’s detention centers” and “that no Federal funds are expended for any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for the purpose of conforming an inmate’s appearance to that of the opposite sex.”
However, the transgender inmates complained that they felt unsafe in male prisons, adding that they had received sexual assault threats and were subjected to inappropriate searches by male prison officers. Surprisingly, Judge Lamberth agreed with them and ordered their return to female facilities, setting a dangerous precedent that could allow sexual predators in women’s prisons. At least 15 transgender inmates will be impacted by Judge Lamberth’s ruling. The Bureau of Prisons has at least 2,200 transgender inmates of whom 22 were housed in women’s facilities by January 20.
“The fact that they have already been transferred and, allegedly, have been abused at their new facilities can only strengthen their claims of irreparable harm,” Judge Lamberth wrote.
Previously, Judge Lamberth had also blocked the transfer of several biological men who identify as women to male prison facilities, claiming that “housing status and medical care” remained unaffected by Trump’s executive order. Meanwhile, allegations of sexual assault by biological men who identify as women are rampant across the prison system. In 2019, a female inmate claimed she was raped by Janiah Monroe, a transgender inmate with intact male genitalia who identified as a woman. However, the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) allegedly conducted a “sham investigation,” forced the victim to deny the attack, and concluded that the sexual encounter was consensual.
“In an attempt to justify the transfers, Defendants Sexton, Calhoun, Keeler, and currently other unknown IDOC employees covered up the sexual assault of Plaintiff and tried to falsely classify it as consensual, to keep it from being considered a PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) violation,” the lawsuit stated.
While they managed to downplay the rape allegation, their finding further raised questions about the possibility of sexual relations between intact male and female inmates in women’s facilities.
In 2022, another biological man posing as a transgender woman allegedly raped a female inmate at Rikers Island despite several warnings about the individual’s true gender identity. In 2024, Tremaine Carroll, a biological male identifying as a transgender woman was charged with raping multiple female inmates before he was transferred to a male facility. Carroll had been transferred to a women’s prison complex under California’s Transgender Respect, Agency, and Dignity Act which assigned correctional facilities based on inmates’ gender preferences.
Dear Prison Authorities – I pray the transfer paperwork becomes (forever) lost in the the bureaucracy.
Guess what – no one going to prison feels safe and secure. Normally that issue just goes with the territory and isn’t given much thought. But all of the sudden a crossdresser who goes to prison is like some kind of special case where the system has to coddle him and do whatever he says it will take to make him feel safe. The left always tries to make us bend over backward to protect their favored classes of people, from crossdressers to Hamas supporters to bureaucrats, but couldn’t care less about regular people.
That’s easy…solitary confinement and no more threats, bingo
Classic $hitlib logic:
Men who claim they identify as “women” should be transferred to women’s prisons because those men feel “unsafe” in men’s prisons.
But zero thought given to how the presence of men in a women’s prison actually makes women inmates legitimately unsafe, and there is no feeling about it. Many of these men are just rapists looking for legal path to be housed in a prison filled with women they can easily rape.
That idiot judge who thinks the executive branch of the federal government revolves around whatever absurd ruling that he and his fellow dirtbags in judicial garb make should accompany those guys to one of those female prisons.
A prisoner serving a long sentence (a minor sentence wouldn’t allow enough time to do the Tranny Transformation) has a real necessity to transition to the other sex? Why?
To be more attractive while dating in prison?
For the purposes of having recreational sex while in prison with somebody(s) other than the spouse you have outside of prison?
feeling unsafe in prison should not be a consideration
everyone feels unsafe in prison
