Largest Day of Clemency: Biden Commutes Sentences of 1,500 and Pardons 39 Others

Days after pardoning his son of a decade of federal crimes, outgoing President Joe Biden has pardoned 39 individuals involved in non-violent offenses and commuted the sentences of 1,500 others. The event marks the largest day of clemency in the history of the United States.

For comparison, incoming president Donald Trump pardoned 143 people and commuted the sentences of another 94 individuals during his first term in office.

“The President has issued more sentence commutations at this point in his presidency than any of his recent predecessors at the same point in their first terms,” the White House stated.

The commutation recipients have been serving at least one year under house arrest since the pandemic struck, and thousands of prisoners were released on the justification that it was to decongest prisons.

The president says the commutation recipients have fully rehabilitated and “reintegrated into their families and communities” and have “shown commitment to making their communities stronger and safer.” No insight on how he knows this.

Biden also believes the prisoners’ sentences were too long and issued under outdated laws. He added that the recipients have “shown that they deserve a second chance.”

“The President is intent on granting clemency to individuals convicted of non-violent crimes who were sentenced under outdated laws, policies, and practices that left them with longer sentences than if the individuals were sentenced today.”

The 39 individuals pardoned for non-violent crimes include those serving long sentences for drug-related offenses.

However, the list of pardon and commutation beneficiaries’ names is yet to be released for public scrutiny.

Biden also hinted that more pardons were on the way, most likely to benefit his political allies, who fear potential retribution from incoming president Donald Trump. Potential pardon recipients include former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Adam Schiff. Bill Clinton is also open to Hillary Clinton receiving a presidential pardon.

“I will take more steps in the weeks ahead. My Administration will continue reviewing clemency petitions to advance equal justice under the law, promote public safety, support rehabilitation and reentry, and provide meaningful second chances,” Biden said.

Meanwhile, Biden’s controversial pardon of his son after repeated assurances that he would not hijack the justice process remains an embarrassment for the Democratic Party and his supporters.

Shortly after Hunter’s pardon, President-elect Trump asked if the January 6th protesters also deserved the same treatment as the president’s son. Nonetheless, Trump has promised to pardon them on “Day One.”

  1. The blanket pardons that cover crimes not yet discovered or brought to trial, yet is INCREDIBLY corrupt.
I’m glad they won’t be able to stick due to the lack of mental capacity claimed when Biden couldn’t be brought up on charges because…
    he wasn’t mentally fit.

  2. Not surprised but outrageous nonetheless. The senile old groper will be “persuaded” to pardon more scummy and disreputable individuals. Yep, the vermin are going to be let off the hook, yet some might say that in one form or another they will ultimately be judged. By God perhaps if one is religious.

  3. The BIGGEST CROOK occupying our White House in history giving the most commutations and pardons in history. What else would you expect. He cares NOTHING for law and order.

  4. This person was deemed unfit by reason of mental defect by the Hur Report AND by his own party who forced him out of a Presidential Campaign. There is no doubt whatsoever about his competency. This begs three questions: who is currently making decisions in the White House, how long have they been making them, and are these pardons and commutations actually legally binding since he IS incompetent?

  5. Criminals helping criminals. I’ve never had more contempt for a person in my life.
This ass clown’s legacy will be one of utter corruption, the destruction of the economy and quite possibly bumbling us near or into WW III.

WHO is the actual President? Not this one, you can be sure.

  6. This lame duck pardoning should be outlawed and make them do it before their election. This way the electorate can judge the criminality of the grantor.
