Michigan Democrats are pushing a $84.3 million “summer tax” in their budget for next fiscal year that some argue will drive up the cost of enjoying the state’s natural resources.
“BREAKING! Senate Democrats just passed their SUMMER TAX,” Michigan Senate Republicans posted to X last week after Democrats approved a record $84.6 billion spending plan.
“They voted to hike your car registration by another $10 AND increase the cost of hunting, fishing and boating licenses,” the post read. “This summer, Democrats expect you to pay more to drive to the lake AND to fish or boat on it.”
