No Love Lost: Biden Hosts Trump in a “Cordial, Gracious, and Substantive” but Frigid White House Meeting

America’s decade-old bitter political rivals met for the first time in years when outgoing president Joe Biden hosted President-elect Donald Trump at the White House.

Throughout Trump and Biden’s presidencies and campaigns, the duo has traded harsh words, a situation well reflected in the frigid public appearance stunt at the White House that screamed “No love lost.”

Liberal media is claiming otherwise. “There is no actual warmth despite the fire,” said CNN’s Senior White House Correspondent MJ Lee.

But despite the contradicting public perception, both camps described the encounter as cordial.

Previously, Biden had described Trump as a threat to democracy, a dictator, and a six-year-old, and his supporters as “garbage,” while Trump called Biden a low-IQ individual and an “old broken down pile of cr*p.” Needless so say, a full list of insults would consume volumes.

Nonetheless, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre also described the two-hour-long meeting as “indeed very cordial, very gracious, and substantive.” Trump said they “had a really good meeting.”

“…(Biden) wants you all to know that the president-elect was gracious, came with a detailed set of questions, it was, again, substantive,” Jean-Pierre said.

During the short public appearance, Biden welcomed back Trump and promised a smooth transition, pledging to address all his needs as he settles in.

“Well Mr. President-elect and former president, Donald, congratulations, and looking forward to having, like we said, a smooth transition,” Mr. Biden said. “Welcome, welcome back.”

Trump appreciated the friendly gesture by pointing out how challenging the world of politics could be. He also assured the outgoing president that the world was better now, a veiled reference to the impact of his (Trump) presidency on global peace.

“Thank you very much, and politics is tough, and it’s, [in] many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today, and I appreciate very much a transition that’s so smooth, it’ll be as smooth as it can get,” Trump responded.

Additionally, Trump took the high road and shielded Biden from taking questions from journalists, sparing him one more embarrassment before leaving office.

Key issues discussed during the indoor meeting included domestic and international affairs such as national security, the Russia-Ukraine War, and the Middle East.

“They discussed important national security and domestic policy issues facing the nation and the world,” Jean-Pierre said.

According to White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Biden advocated for continued support for Ukraine. Trump also “talked very much about the Middle East” and also pledged to end the Ukraine War as quickly as possible.

“I wanted to know his views on where we are,” the New York Post quoted President-elect Trump. “And he gave them to me, he was very gracious.”

The President-elect has frequently insisted that the war would not have occurred under his leadership. In a recent call with the Russian President, he warned Putin not to escalate the war.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media found fault with the White House meeting, complaining that Trump did not extend the same welcome to Biden in 2020.

  1. Three things I believe: 1) The 2020 election was stolen. 2) Joe was forced out via coup that was preplanned before 2020. 3) Joe and Jill voted for Trump in 2024. Nothing will convince me otherwise.
