White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has confirmed that her office does not respond to reporters who display their preferred pronouns for being out of touch with reality. The policy stems from the administration’s attempt to restore “biological reality” across the federal government.
On January 21, President Trump signed the “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” executive order recognizing only two sexes. It also replaced the word gender with sex to reinforce the biological reality. “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality,” it stated.
Recently, liberal pronoun-using journalists have complained about receiving cold responses from various federal offices, suggesting that the administration deliberately ignored reporters who embraced gender fluidity.
The New York Times reporter Michael Grynbaum claimed that Trump’s press office had rejected emails on “three separate occasions” likely due to the presence of preferred pronouns. The Times also reported that another pronoun-using journalist was snubbed by Katie Miller, the Senior Advisor to the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“As a matter of policy, I don’t respond to people who use pronouns in their signatures as it shows they ignore scientific realities and therefore ignore facts,” Miller told the reporter. “This applies to all reporters who have pronouns in their signature,” she added.
When Grynbaum enquired whether this was the White House Press Office’s official policy, Leavitt sent a scathing response.
“Any reporter who chooses to put their preferred pronouns in their bio clearly does not care about biological reality or truth and therefore cannot be trusted to write an honest story.”
Another liberal journalist, Matt Berg, conducted an “experiment” by including pronouns in his email signature to check if he would get the same response, which he did. “I find it baffling that they care more about pronouns than giving journalists accurate information, but here we are,” Berg told Grynbaum.
However, White House communications director Steven Cheung slammed the liberal media outlet for obsessing over pronouns instead of reporting on important issues. “If The New York Times spent the same amount of time actually reporting the truth as they do being obsessed with pronouns, maybe they would be a half-decent publication,” Cheung said.
Nonetheless, WaPo reported that “at least one Washington Post reporter has recently received replies from White House officials despite having an email signature listing pronouns.”
On April 9, Leavitt publicly confirmed in a post on X that the White House Press Office does not engage with reality-denying reporters. “‘Trump press secretary doesn’t engage with reporters using pronouns in emails, says they deny reality’ Fact Check: True.”
President Trump is trying to undo years of erasing the biological truth from the federal government. In early 2021, Biden’s White House modified the official contact form to include a field for preferred pronouns. The administration also encouraged journalists to include their preferred pronouns as a gesture of its commitment to respecting gender identity.
The same was extended to federal employees who were provided an opportunity to display their preferred pronouns. However, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management directed agencies to turn off settings that requested employees’ pronouns after Trump’s inauguration.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear if not engaging with pronoun-displaying journalists was an official policy or just a standard practice across different offices. When Axios reached out to confirm the same, President’s Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields, responded with “FACTS!”
The DNC/ACLU is shopping for a Democrat jurist prepared to entertain a suit against the Trump administration on behalf of anti-reality, anti-science, virtue signaling, and cry-bullying dweeb journalists.
Democrats will soon discover that malicious compliance is a two way street.
