Recently released documents have drawn widespread criticism of former President Biden’s National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism, which targeted rather than protected law-abiding Americans.
The Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, released the documents after pressure from the Trump-linked rights group American First Legal (AFL), which demanded to know how far the government overreached its authority in stifling Americans’ rights to self-expression.
AFL had suggested that the Biden administration categorized “disfavored views” as misinformation or hate speech. Tech partnerships and global cooperation played a critical role in targeting law-abiding Americans, effectively creating a systemic surveillance state.
Gabbard thanked AFL for their incredible work, and promised to release more documents exposing the former administration’s trampling of law-abiding Americans’ rights.
“Thank you for your work. We are already on this, and look forward to declassifying this and other instances of the government being weaponized against Americans,” she tweeted.
The documents revealed that the Biden administration did not spare anyone who opposed the administration by labeling them as “anti-government” and “anti-authority.” It extended far beyond its purported mandate by focusing on ideology, freedom of speech, and the online flow of information.
Groups targeted included pro-life activists, conservative Catholics who advocated for the sanctity of life and the federal recognition of two biological genders, MAGA supporters, and pro-Second Amendment groups. Parents demanding more say in their children’s education and lives were also targeted as potential domestic terrorists.
Ironically, many leftist anti-American groups, including those that openly called for anarchy and the death of America, and participated in mass riots, did not fit into the administration’s definition of “domestic terrorist.” Some of these groups were responsible for many of the most violent confrontations with peaceful protesters, under the guise of fighting “fascism.” The fact that these groups did not require dedicated attention suggests that the designation was merely an excuse to target individuals who opposed the Biden administration, rather than a genuine concern for national security.
The documents also revealed that the weaponized DHS responded to various incidents of non-criminal behavior, demonstrating that it was never about law and order. “Non-violent political expression” and “rejection of racism and bigotry” were listed among “contributors to domestic terrorism.” However, taking over portions of a city and declaring autonomy, burning police cars, and assaulting law enforcement officers, did not meet the threshold of domestic terrorism.
Besides cracking down on constitutionally protected rights, the weaponized DHS spent millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money to limit Americans’ freedom. Millions of dollars were spent on censorship and the suppression of online freedom of speech, all under the guise of combating “misinformation.”
Meanwhile, the violence from the left continues to pose an existential threat to the United States. Just lat week, a Democratic Congresswoman and her husband were gunned down in Minneapolis after she voted against free healthcare for illegals. Minnesota Democratic state senator Melissa Hortman crossed party lines to do what is best for tax-paying legal Americans and voted against free healthcare for illegal aliens.
California’s largest city, Los Angeles, continued to burn after Trump tried to remove people who should not be in the country in the first place. Nonetheless, the left stands in solidarity with illegal aliens, including those who have committed serious crimes, instead of their fellow citizens who are seriously impacted by their mass riots.
