Revealed: Biden Considered Pardoning Hunter in June but Directed Aides To Lie that he Wouldn’t
Joe Biden was considering pardoning his son six months ago while publicly insisting that presidential clemency was out of the question.
“The president has discussed pardoning his son with some of his closest aides at least since Hunter Biden’s conviction in June, said two people with direct knowledge of the discussions about the matter,” the source spilled to NBC.
Biden’s inner circle decided that the outgoing president would stick to the script and convince Americans that a presidential pardon was unthinkable while the option remained on the table.
“They said it was decided at the time that he would publicly say he would not pardon his son even though doing so remained on the table.”
Meanwhile, White House staff continued aggressively asserting Biden’s position whenever the question popped up.
“From a presidential perspective, is there any possibility that the president would end up pardoning his own son?” a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in 2023.
“No,” KJP replied.
When the reporter pressed on, KJP lashed at him, insisting it was a hard ‘NO.’
“Well, is there?” the reporter insisted.
“I just said no!” she said. “I just answered.”
Nonetheless, Biden offered his only living son “a full and unconditional pardon” for convicted crimes and other “offenses against the United States” committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.
Biden also continued to lie after pardoning his son, saying he reached the decision over the weekend and found no reason to delay it further.
“… and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further.”
A White House official also insisted that the outgoing president reached the decision over the weekend and began notifying his senior aides on Sunday, despite them already having deliberated on the matter.
Meanwhile, Hunter also tried to downplay his confession, saying he took responsibility for his actions during the “darkest days” of his addiction, adding that the mistakes could be “exploited to publicly humiliate” him and the Biden family for “political sport.”
His confession came more than five years after he purportedly overcame his addiction.
Justifying his decision, Biden said he opted to pardon Hunter after watching him being “being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted” for being the president’s son.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong.”
In the light of the fictitious circumstances, the outgoing president hopes Americans will understand his decision to pardon his son. Outgoing First Lady Jill Biden also said she fully supports her husband’s decision to unilaterally pardon their convicted son.
Hunter was due for sentencing on December 12 before the big man granted him the pardon.
The Constitution provides for Presidential pardon. It also provides protections for that power from the other two branches of Government. Neither Congress nor the Supreme Court can revoke a Presidential pardon. Congress could prevent a pardon by instigating Impeachment proceedings. This would be the ideal method in this instance considering the criminal acts Hunter has performed on behalf and in conjunction with Joe. However, what the Constitution does not specifically provide or remove is the possibility that a following President can revoke a previous President’s pardon. All the ‘rules’ and conventions surrounding the Presidential pardon are based upon tradition and how pardons have been handled in the past. Trump and and should create precedent by immediately revoking Hunter’s pardon as his first act as President and let the system decide if it’s right or wrong.
