Ana Reyes, the first openly gay U.S. District Judge who blocked Trump’s military’s transgender policy has a history of supporting Democratic causes and politicians. Judge Reyes granted a preliminary injunction on Trump’s executive order Executive Order 14183 that declared “medical, surgical, and mental health constraints on individuals with gender dysphoria” as “inconsistent” with the “high standards for troop readiness, lethality, cohesion, honesty, humility, uniformity, and integrity.”
The order required the Secretary of Defense to update Medical Standards for Military Service Appointment, Enlistment, Induction, and Retention within 60 days. DefSec Pete Hegseth responded by pausing the recruitment of “individuals with a history of gender dysphoria” and stopping planned/unplanned medical procedures related to gender transition for service members.
However, a group of plaintiffs appeared before Judge Reyes to stop the implementation of the policy. In February 2025, the activist judge spent time grilling the Department of Justice lawyers about Trump’s policy and threatened to grant the injunction if the Trump administration failed to guarantee that the plaintiffs would not be negatively impacted.
Reyes argued that less than 1% of service members used pronouns, thus unlikely to affect the military’s effectiveness. She subsequently ordered the Trump administration to “maintain and continue Plaintiffs’ military statuses” and “take all steps necessary to effectuate” her order. Meanwhile, details about her affiliation with the Democratic Party and the far-left ideology have raised questions about her impartiality over the matter.
According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Reyes has donated thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and causes while serving as a U.S. District Judge.
The Uruguayan-born American judge donated to Barack Obama in 2012, Hillary Clinton in 2008 when she ran against Obama and 2016 against Trump, and both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020. The activist judge also donated to Democratic House and Senate candidates Sen. Jon Ossoff, (D-GA), and far-left squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Democratic causes that also benefitted from Judge Reyes’s donations include Defeat by Tweet super PAC that requested liberal donors to contribute to political organizers in battleground states whenever Trump tweeted. The funds drive, launched with the assistance of the Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, received $1,700 from Judge Reyes.
Judge Reyes also donated numerous times towards Win the Era, a political action committee founded by former Democratic primaries candidate Pete Buttigieg, who later became Biden’s Transportation Secretary. Since 2013, Reyes also donated to ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform that is under scrutiny for accepting potentially illegal money from foreign donors. GOP lawmakers asked the FCC to investigate the political outfit for potential “fraudulent, deceptive, and potentially illegal behavior.”
Similarly, while working at Williams & Connolly LLP in 2018, she represented illegal immigrants who challenged Trump’s “Stay in Mexico” policy that made asylum seekers who illegally crossed the border ineligible for consideration. When another activist judge blocked the policy, Reyes lauded the decision as “a win for refugees.
”Williams & Connolly LLP, the law firm she worked for while representing illegal immigrants, also promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies and offered diversity scholarships. The vast majority of its employees (85.6 percent) also donated toward Democratic causes, while just 14.4 percent donated to the Republican Party and conservative causes during the 2024 election cycle.
Tell the gay judge to go to hell and to keep her nose out of military matters. The U.S. Armed Forces is not a proving ground for enacting social change. It exists to preserve the peace by preparing for war. That stupid, arrogant individual, and others like her do not have the right to dictate to the Executive Branch of the Federal Government what it can and cannot do. Reyes the far left yahoo was, of course biased in the first place. That alone should be sufficient grounds to take her dubious decision and flush it down the toilet.
