“Russian Collusion” conspiracy theorist Marc Elias is suing the state of Wyoming to make it easy for illegal immigrants to vote after its legislature overwhelmingly passed an election integrity legislation.
Expected to take effect on July 1, 2025, House Bill 156 received overwhelming support in the House and Senate after a 51-8 and 26-4 vote, respectively. The bill requires proof of citizenship, such as a U.S. passport, birth certificate, naturalization papers, or other recognized documents, to register as a voter.
However, RINO GOP Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon did not append his signature, forcing the bill to automatically become law on March 21. Besides Gov. Gordon’s cold shoulder, House Bill 156 now faces a legal challenge from various far-left groups and individuals, such as Equality State Policy Center and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and Elias.
The petitioners claim that House Bill 156 will “impose new, burdensome, and entirely unnecessary requirements” for eligible citizens to vote, resulting in “exclusion and disenfranchisement of citizens.”
It specifically mentions women, Hispanic, young, and low-income individuals, adding that female voters are more likely than men to be prevented from voting due to marriage-related name changes.
However, there are fast and effective mechanisms in place to address marriage-related name changes, which are specifically aimed at avoiding inconveniencing women. For example, marital name changes can be done online by filling out Form SS-5 and sending an ID and a marriage certificate.
Even at the state DMV, women only need a state ID or driver’s license to change their name after updating their Social Security records. Thus, marriage-related name changes for women only become problematic if the person does not have the necessary documents, which are easy to obtain for legal citizens.
As for minorities, there is no proof that American-born citizens cannot obtain identification documents based on race. In a recently resurfaced video, investigative journalist Ami Horowitz interviewed Black people about voter ID laws. They expressed their disappointment at the left for thinking that they cannot get identification documents.
Additionally, the conspiracy theorist argues that existing state and federal laws prevent noncitizens from voting, claiming that they must “attest” to be American citizens, thus making the recently passed law unnecessary.
“And pre-existing Wyoming law required anyone registering to vote to attest to their eligibility in a sworn statement,” the lawsuit states.
However, that attestation relies on individuals being truthful about their citizenship status, and lying could go undetected for years. According to State Rep. John Bear, “the attestation requirement did not adequately safeguard Wyoming elections, because an attestation ‘is not the same thing as proof.’”
Elon Musk also recently uncovered how non-citizens had infiltrated voter rolls, including some who voted during the 2024 elections. Your guess is as good as mine as to which party they voted for.
Similarly, in March 2025, several Red states that monitor their voter rolls purged over 300,000 ineligible voters, including illegal immigrants, suggesting that the voluntary disclosure was a total failure.
Meanwhile, the Republican-led House has passed the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which demands proof of citizenship for voter registration to protect the integrity of our elections.
