Shocking: NYC Dem Mayor Eric Adams Expands NYPD Using Money for Illegal Aliens after Reduced Influx

New York City is among the liberal cities that paid for illegal aliens’ accommodations and provided them with prepaid debit cards.

However, the funds previously used for accommodating illegals will now be used to expand the New York Police Department – which itself was previously defunded to cater to illegals.

However, the policy shift was not motivated by a return to commonsense but by changing circumstances, potentially influenced by Trump’s anti-illegal immigration rhetoric early on in the campaign. (And maybe Mayor Eric Adams is looking for a pardon too).

Mayor Adams said the city will add two police academy classes, which will expand the police force by 1,600 officers by October 2025, putting the total number to nearly 34,000. The Big Apple targets employing 35,000 officers to address residents’ security concerns.

According to the New York Post, “Adams had nixed the classes amid a spate of budget cuts last year to offset the massive cost of asylum seekers needing food, shelter and other aid.”

The funds will now be available due to the reduced costs of addressing the migrant crisis “primarily due to lower-than-expected number of asylum seekers entering the city’s care since July 2024.” While Mayor Adams did not speculate on the causes for the reduction in supposed “asylum seekers,” it could be linked to Trump’s strong rhetoric on increasing border security and mass deportations of people illegally crossing into the country.

Nonetheless, the new development will free up nearly $500 million within the next two years. With the “illegal immigrants’ welfare program” out of the way, Mayor Adams promised more investment in “public safety, affordability, and livability for working-class New Yorkers.” The city’s modified budget unveiled on Wednesday includes $115 billion for these causes.

Up to $468 million will assist up to 570,000 vulnerable New Yorkers in paying for housing, food, and utilities. However, the amount is a drop in the ocean compared to the billions spent on accommodating “Asylum seekers,” many of whom just exploit the Justice System to stay.

Previously, up to $6.4 billion had been diverted from critical services to accommodate alleged “asylum seekers” in luxury hotels across New York. Trump’s “Stay in Mexico” policy, which the Biden administration reversed, aimed to ease the financial burden on American taxpayers by ensuring that Asylum seekers had legitimate reasons before entering the United States.

Ironically, Mayor Adams now says the freed funds will help prioritize the services New Yorkers need, such as public safety. However, it seemed that addressing the migrant crisis through luxury accommodation had superseded New York City residents’ security concerns and welfare.

New York City is also sobering up after Trump’s victory. Shortly after Trump declared victory, the city ended a program housing thousands of migrants at the Roosevelt Hotel and provided them with prepaid debit cards and boxed meals.
