Slap in Dems’ Face: GOP Lawmakers Endorse Lara Trump to Replace Marco Rubio
GOP lawmakers have requested Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to appoint Lara Trump to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate due to him being appointed Secretary of State. DeSantis is expected to appoint someone to fill the Senate seat.
Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has asked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to pick Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump to replace Sen. Marco Rubio.
Lara co-chairs the Republican National Committee (RNC) and is married to Trump’s third son Eric. Her extensive experience in the media and at the RNC, and her affiliation with Trump’s family would be an asset to the GOP.
Lara also defended Trump when Mark Cuban accused the former president of not having “strong, intelligent women” around him.
In a virtual interview with Fox News, she pointed out that Trump hired women to build the Trump Tower and head his organizations “before it was politically advantageous for anybody.” Speaking during Trump’s campaign in Reading, Pennsylvania, alongside “Women for Trump” members, Lara predicted victory in early voting.
“We have absolutely killed them in early vote…,” she said.
Meanwhile, Sen. Britt believes Lara would be an excellent replacement for Sen. Rubio, should Trump nominate him as the Secretary of State.
“She understands the America First agenda,” Britt told Axios. “For me, I think she would be a tremendous pick, a voice for hard-working families and another mom of school-aged kids that understands what we’re up against, and that’s to fight to protect the American dream.”
Other Florida lawmakers have thrown their weight behind Lara’s appointment. Appearing on The Benny Show, Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL-13) said she would make a public call to have Gov DeSantis select Lara to replace Rubio.
“I think that she is the best fit if he becomes secretary of state, which I think he’s going to.”
“If she’ll take it, I think she would be the perfect fit,” Rep. Luna added. “I’m giving her my full backing.”
Besides Lara, DeSantis has other options, including his chief of staff James Uthmeier, and Florida’s Attorney General, Ashley Moody.
However, Lara’s appointment would be a slap in the Democrats’ face and would spare the Florida governor the hustle of making other appointments to fill either his AG or chief of staff positions. Filling the position with a woman would also put Democrats in a dilemma.
Similarly, Lara’s appointment is a good political strategy to avoid a “nasty primary” when the seat becomes open, U.S. Rep. Luna said.
In addition, appointing a Trump would somehow mend the somewhat frigid relationship between Trump and DeSantis, which soured during the Republican primaries.
However, her exit from the RNC would also be a blow to the party. As the RNC co-chair, she relentlessly fought for the integrity of the election across the country to secure Trump’s win.
Nonetheless, Trump’s critics will find a way to overlook Lara’s professional achievements, her role in Trump’s re-election campaign, and her enthusiasm for the American First agenda, and scream “nepotism.” However, Rep. Luna believes that nepotism has nothing to do with her appointment.
“I think that she has the qualification. She proved herself, not just as a national leader, but also as a stateswoman,” the self-declared “pro-life extremist” said.
I am really too old to use the word awesome in any context but, appointing Lara trump to the senate would be awesome!
No way and No How. Laura is in the Perfect job right now. It could possible be that the Crats & RINO’s ant to get her out of the RNC job as she’s too effective as the RNC Chair.
