A Chicago elementary school teacher was recorded making a gun gesture to mock the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk during a “No Kings” protest over the weekend, as reported by The New York Post.
The video, which quickly spread online, has sparked outrage and prompted questions about whether the teacher remains employed.
The woman, identified as Lucy Martinez, teaches at Nathan Hale Elementary School in Chicago.
In the video, Martinez is seen putting a finger to her neck and pretending to pull a trigger while reacting to a man driving past the protest in a pickup truck waving a flag that called the late Turning Point USA founder a “hero.” Several other demonstrators flipped off the driver as he passed.
🚨BREAKING: The woman caught mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination has reportedly been identified as Lucy Martinez — a Chicago Public School teacher.
If this is true, she shouldn’t be teaching anyone’s kids.
Let’s make her famous.
She wanted attention — now she’ll get it.

Kirk, 31, was killed last month when 26-year-old Tyler Robinson allegedly shot him in the neck while he was speaking at Utah State University. Robinson has been charged with murder.
It remains unclear whether Martinez has been disciplined or terminated from her position. Following the video’s circulation, Nathan Hale Elementary School’s website was temporarily taken offline.
In a statement, Chicago Public Schools said the district “remains committed to creating and maintaining a welcoming, safe and inclusive teaching and learning environment, free from harassment, bias, or harm of any kind.”
“While CPS does not comment on specific personnel matters, the District follows a consistent process when allegations of misconduct are reported,” the statement continued. “Employees found to have violated Board policy are subject to disciplinary action.”
When asked directly whether Martinez had been fired, a CPS spokesperson referred media inquiries back to that same statement.
The video has drawn widespread backlash online. “This is who we trust with our children & then wonder why they become radicalized as adults,” posted Libs of Chicago on X.
“This woman teaches children. Lucy is now the perfect face of the ‘No Kings’ movement — a movement that preaches ‘love’ but celebrates death. Evil always exposes itself,” Ryan Fournier, co-founder of Students for Trump, wrote on X.

Another commenter wrote, “What parent would want their child being taught by such a truly hateful person.”
As of Monday, Martinez had not responded to media inquiries about the video. Chicago Public Schools has not provided further updates on her employment status as the district’s investigation continues.
