Trump Delivers the Final Blow to Harvard

The Trump administration will cancel the remaining federal contracts worth about $100 million with Harvard University, dealing the beleaguered Ivy League institution the final blow, over its alleged failure to address anti-Semitism on its campuses.

The New York Times reported that the U.S. General Services Administration will request all federal agencies to list all existing contracts with the University, to find “alternative vendors.” Nine agencies would be affected by the ongoing exercise.

The Trump admin had recently withdrawn $60 billion in federal contracts from Harvard, having previously withheld $2.2 billion in federal grants.

“HHS is taking decisive action to uphold civil rights in higher education. Due to Harvard University’s continued failure to address anti-Semitic harassment and race discrimination, HHS is terminating multiple multi-year grant awards — totaling approximately $60 million over their full duration,” the department posted X.

Earlier in May 2025, Education Secretary Linda McMahon also discouraged Harvard from applying for future federal grants, stating that it would no longer be a publicly funded university.

“Harvard will cease to be a publicly funded institution,” she warned.

Meanwhile, U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs has blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to decertify the university for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), which allows the Ivy League institution to admit international students using visas.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had demanded that the university report on the criminality of foreign students, to which failure she threatened to cancel the University’s visa program. Noem had stressed that the university must be held accountable for “fostering violence, failing to curb antisemitism and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus.”

Meanwhile, the university is fighting to restore the $3 billion in federal funding halted by the Trump administration, claiming that it would financially devastate the institution.

Ironically, Harvard President Alan Garber believes that the federal government has no power to dictate the activities of “private universities.” Yet, he somehow believes that the same private universities are entitled to federal funding. “No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue,” he wrote.

With over a quarter (27%) of Harvard University students being citizens of foreign countries, the Ivy League institution claims that cracking down on international students would hurt its diversity. However, national safety and the safety of other students should take precedence over any diversity initiatives.

Learning activities also suffer significant disruptions due to the ongoing pro-Palestine protests across Ivy League universities, with protesters sometimes storming libraries or disrupting exams.

Meanwhile, Trump plans to reinvest the $3 billion withheld from Harvard University into other institutions of higher learning that desperately need additional government financial assistance. “I am considering taking Three Billion Dollars of Grant Money away from a very antisemitic Harvard, and giving it to TRADE SCHOOLS all across our land,” Trump posted on his Truth Social network. “What a great investment that would be for the USA, and so badly needed!!!”

  1. A private Harvard can allow any kind of behavior they want to now– rich parents can send their rich offspring there to get degrees in Mostly-Violent Protest, Modern Vandalism, Anti-Social Studies, Gender Confusion for Minors, River-to-Sea Extermination, Capitalism Eradication, and Vermin Vetrinary Science with a minor in Voluntary Refugee Camping.

  2. If Harvard shuts its doors tomorrow, the US educational system will survive. There are a lot of great universities in this country. We might be better off without Harvard’s anti-American propaganda.

  3. But it was so fine for them to talk all sorts of evil about white kids. But when it’s the juice holy shit, stop everything!

Destroy them. 100% tax on endowments. Earmark it for paying down the debit. I love learning. My Mom use to call me her “perpetual student”, but these are no longer the “Storied Bastions of Learning”. They are Marxist indoctrination centers. Saw a study that some one did little over 200 recent college graduates were tested on a classical book. Were allowed to use phones, ask professors in the room, etc. had all the help that could use except being given the answers. 4 passed. That’s education…not in my book.

  5. Harvard said it ” is a private college” with 40 billion in endowments. Spend your money anyway you want.

Harvard is unclear on the concept. They decry that they are a private university, but demand government funding. You cannot have it both ways. They insist that they alone will decide what foreigners attend their university and are telling the federal government that they basically have no right to have a say in what foreigners are permitted in this country. It seems that Harvard thinks they are going to hold the federal government and the United States of America hostage. They have absolutely zero leverage to take that stand. That will be the hill they die on.
