A briefing shared Feb. 25 by the White House invited public comment on President Donald Trump’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Executive Order (EO).
Trump signed the “Removing Barrier to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence” EO on Jan. 23. The order “revokes certain existing AI policies and directives that act as barriers to American AI innovation, clearing a path for the United States to act decisively to retain global leadership in artificial intelligence.”
The latest statement calling for public comment encourages the American public to “share their policy ideas for the AI Action Plan by responding to a Request for Information (RFI), available on the Federal Register’s website through March 15.”
Why Does AI Matter?
Whether you like it or not, we are entering the era of AI. Most companies have already implemented some type of AI to their day-to-day processes. Ensuring we enter this new generation of technological innovation with the right safeguards is essential to American prosperity.
“The Trump Administration is committed to ensuring the United States is the undeniable leader in AI technology. This AI Action Plan is the first step in securing and advancing American AI dominance, and we look forward to incorporating the public’s comments and innovative ideas,” Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy Lynne Parker said in the request.
How To Submit Comment
The White House directs the public to submit their comments via their online web portal. Comments aren’t restricted to anyone in particular. The statement says, “input from interested public parties, including academia, industry groups, private sector organizations, state, local and tribal governments, and others on actions that should be included in the AI Action Plan.”
