Chris Cuomo, host of NewsNation’s “CUOMO,” surprisingly argued that Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden has inadvertently handed President-elect Donald Trump a potent tool to counter his own legal battles.
Cuomo described the move as a “gift” to Trump, citing how the former president’s legal team is already leveraging the situation to bolster their defense.
Biden’s announcement of the pardon on Sunday included an acknowledgment that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had engaged in politically motivated actions.
Trump’s attorney cited this admission in a motion filed Tuesday seeking to dismiss his New York case.
“It took exactly one day for Trump and the funky bunch to seize on the gift that Biden just gave him,” Cuomo said during his broadcast. “Democrats who are saying, ‘Oh, I can’t support Biden’s decision. This is about principle.’ Look, everyone gets protecting family except the cancel-crazy people, but this isn’t about that. This is about how Biden justified this. This was a huge admission, what Biden said here.”
Cuomo highlighted the potential repercussions of Biden’s justification for the pardon, arguing that the president’s framing of the DOJ’s actions as politically motivated plays directly into Trump’s narrative.
“Who knew in the Democrat ranks that Biden was going to say he was pardoning his son not because it’s his son, not because he’s got to protect him, but because of political prosecutions and overreach?” Cuomo questioned. “People had to know how dangerous this pardon was going to look.”
The host also speculated that Biden might consider issuing preemptive pardons for himself and his brother to insulate them from potential investigations.
“Who knows? Because clearly what Biden is trying to do is insulate all three of them from funny money probes. That’s why you bracket the ten-year period,” Cuomo said. “Usually, you say, ‘This is my son. This is what he was convicted of. He owns it. He pleaded guilty. That’s it. I’m letting him go. He’s my son. If you don’t like it, I’m on the way out anyway.’”
Biden’s pardon for Hunter is described as “full and unconditional,” covering any crimes he was charged with or “may have committed or taken part in” since 2014.
Cuomo pointed out how this phrasing shifts the focus to the alleged failures of the DOJ under Biden’s administration.
“And yet he’s blaming his behavior in advance on a corrupt system. Tell me, who does he sound like?” Cuomo said, drawing comparisons between Biden’s actions and Trump’s rhetoric. “You let a sitting president say, ‘The DOJ on my watch was dirty and how it went after my son.’ How do you let that happen?”
Cuomo warned that Biden’s statement has provided Trump with a potent defense argument.
He suggested that Trump and his allies will use this as a basis to justify their claims of political persecution.
“They are going to beat you to death with the bat you just handed them,” Cuomo said. “This is why you lost. You say Trump is FOS [full of shit], and then you play the same game.”

The fallout from the pardon, Cuomo suggested, has undermined the Democrats’ stance as protectors of institutional integrity, a narrative that Trump’s legal team is poised to exploit as he prepares to re-enter the White House in January.
Coming from you, Chris, your entire article is worth about the same as used toilet paper. You spent the first four years trashing Trump at every turn, enriching yourself at the expense of whatever ethics you might have aspired to, and misinforming your viewers to insulate the corrupt Liberals in power, like your brother. Have you no shame, sir? A real human being would be spending the rest of their life as far away from the light of day and the view of honest people as they could.
FAFO now we get to f*** with you. I hope Trump makes you all cry UNCLE.
