A University of Michigan-sanctioned student group openly called for the elimination of Israel in an Instagram post on Saturday.
Jewish Voice for Peace at the University of Michigan, which is “organizing for Palestinian liberation and Judaism beyond Zionism,” shared this, according to reporter Yashar Ali:
“death to israel” is not just a threat. it is a moral imperative and the only acceptable solution. may the entire colony burn to the ground for good.
“I am extremely concerned that a student group is authorized by the University of Michigan is spreading this kind of rhetoric and hate,” University of Michigan Regent Sarah Hubbard told The Midwesterner.
“It’s extremely important that we make sure our campus is safe for everyone. Some will view this as a threat to their safety. We will continue to address these situations by holding students and groups accountable,” Hubbard said.
Hubbard has been a target of Jewish Voice for Peace since the Hamas attack on October 7.
