Washington Post Begin Mass Lay-Offs After Losing $70 Million in Revenue From Readers Fleeing
The leftist Washington Post is suffering the consequences of its actions after it doubled down on its woke narratives last year, losing a whopping $70 million dollars in revenue as readers continue to ditch the outlet.
The paper has now been forced to lay off dozens of staffers as it scrambles to stay afloat.
The outlet joins a long list of media outlets facing complete collapse as a new era of anti-woke media emerges under the incoming Trump presidency.
Breitbart News reports:
The Washington Post will reportedly lay off dozens of its staffers in the next few days. The news comes after the publication caught flak for not endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris (D) during the presidential election that Donald Trump won in November.
In his article published on Status, Oliver Darcy wrote Sunday that “the layoffs are slated to hit the Jeff Bezos-owned and Will Lewis-led newspaper’s business division, I’m told. One person familiar with the matter said that the cuts will be deep, impacting many dozens of employees.”
Bezos has reportedly been shaking up the Post after it decided not to endorse Harris, according to Breitbart News.
Darcy continued:
The layoffs will surely deplete morale further inside the beleaguered newspaper, which has suffered a talent exodus over the last several weeks. As I reported earlier, star reporter Josh Dawsey will exit The Post for a job at The Wall Street Journal. His departure comes on the heels of other top staffers fleeing, including Matea Gold, Ashely Parker, Michael Scherer, Charles Lane, Tyler Pager, and Amanda Katz.
WaPo even got rid of their ‘gender columnist,’ whatever that is.
Fox News reports:
The Washington Post is planning on eliminating its “gender columnist” position after the writer penned a piece that was ultimately scrapped by the paper’s editors, Fox News Digital has learned.
Monica Hesse, who made headlines in 2018 by becoming The Post’s first-ever “gender columnist,” will not hold that title much longer after writing a column about gender was “killed” by her editors, two sources tell Fox News Digital. It is unclear what Hesse had written in the column and what the editors objected to.
Hesse, currently a columnist for the paper’s Style section, is expected to be reassigned either to its Opinions section or remain in Style as a reporter, the sources added.
Meanwhile over at CNN, the network is blaming their tanking ratings on “not being tougher on Trump.”
According to an anonymous report in The Washington Post, CNN journalists said that Trump’s coverage during the 2024 election cycle was insufficiently critical.
They claim that the decision to hold a town hall with Trump last year also upset both staff and viewers.
“It is widely felt at CNN that we didn’t meet the mark,” one insider said of the network’s handling of the election.
“I think a lot of it can be explained by the viewers making a decision that they just don’t like what we’re doing. The viewers are pretty smart.”
CNN’s daily audience among the coveted 24-54 demographic dropped by 1 percent from 2023, from 94,000 to 92,000 viewers.
How the media will look like under the Trump presidency is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure, woke and left leaning narratives will become relics of the past and serve as a reminder of how news outlets gaslit the American people.
