Border Czar Tom Homan schooled CNN‘s Dana Bash after she invited him on her show for what appeared to be a planned ambush interview on Sunday.
During an appearance on the network’s State of the Union show to answer questions, Bash focused on the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.
However, the discussion quickly descended into an attempt to catch Homan off guard when Bash began her inquisition.
At one point, Bash pulled the race card in an effort to paint Homan as bigoted.
She implied that Team Trump was targeting migrants based not on legality, but on skin color and accent.
However, Homan remained calm and delivered non-emotional facts, making it clear that race-baiting tactics from hosts like Bash would not deter him from enforcing immigration law and keeping America safe.
Bash sat in silence as her gotcha tactic spectacularly backfired.

BASH: One thing I have heard over and over again is that people who are in the United States legally are scared about getting swept up because of the color of their skin, because they speak with an accent, because of the location where they might be going… Are you comfortable with that?
HOMAN: If they’re in the country legally, they’ve got no reason to be afraid. ICE is looking for those in the country illegally and prioritizing public safety threats and national security threats.
We’re going to enforce immigration law. It’s not okay to be in this country illegally.
It’s not okay to enter this country illegally. It’s a crime. But legal aliens and US citizens should not be afraid that they’re going to be swept up in a raid.
We know who we’re looking for, and that’s what the agents are out there seeking. And again, they use a lot of information, mostly operations we conduct are targeted enforcement operations.
When we go out, we know exactly who we’re looking for. Most likely, we will find them. Many times, we have a criminal history and immigration history when we go out looking for that person.
So if you’re in a country legally, you shouldn’t fear ICE.
