Blue State Suspect Freed Without Bail Returns To Assault Same Victim Again 6 Hours Later

A Maryland man who was released from jail without bail following an assault arrest returned to the victim’s home less than an hour later and allegedly attacked her again, this time injuring both the woman and a toddler she was holding, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Authorities said the first incident occurred on November 7, when officers arrested 40-year-old James Bowman III of Waldorf for a domestic-related assault. In that case, Bowman allegedly punched a woman in the face and bit her hand.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Charles County Detention Center.

However, a district court commissioner released Bowman on personal recognizance under the condition that he not abuse the woman he was accused of attacking.

The sheriff’s office said Bowman did not adhere to that condition.

On November 8 at 12:52 a.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Drake Court in Waldorf after receiving a report of another assault involving the same individuals. When officers arrived, they found the woman inside the residence holding a toddler.

“She had visible injuries and was covered in blood,” the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“Officers de-escalated the situation and learned the suspect had returned to the residence after being arrested and charged with assaulting the same woman less than six hours earlier.”

According to the investigation, Bowman allegedly forced his way back into the home shortly after being released from custody. The sheriff’s office said he attacked the woman again as she held the child.

The woman managed to call 911 and retreat to a bedroom, but Bowman forced the door open and continued the assault as she attempted to place the toddler on the bed.

“While striking the woman, Bowman also struck the child in the forehead, causing an injury,” the sheriff’s office said. Emergency medical responders treated both the woman and the child at the scene.

Officers arrested Bowman again and charged him with assault and child abuse. This time, a district court commissioner held him without bond, and on November 10, a judge ordered that Bowman continue to be held without bond.

The sheriff’s office has not released additional details on the condition of the victims or whether further charges may be filed.

  1. And why shouldn’t he continue the crimes? No-bail is little more than an expression of approval and an invitation to keep the spree going.
