A Canadian woman living in New Jersey is facing serious charges after she allegedly attacked a teenage girl simply for wearing patriotic clothing featuring the names Trump and ICE.
The incident unfolded on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk during the Fourth of July weekend, and now the alleged assailant has found herself behind bars and in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Authorities identified the woman as Kaitlyn E. Tracey, age thirty three, who was reportedly filming a group of teens before confronting them over their clothing choices.
According to a report from NJ.com, Tracey allegedly slapped the victim across her face and body, an act that police described as unprovoked and aggressive.
The patriotic messaging on the girl’s clothing seems to have been the spark that set Tracey off, which says plenty about today’s climate of political intolerance against conservatives.
Police say surveillance footage backs up the teenage victim’s account of what happened.
The video allegedly shows Tracey striking the young girl once on the body and again on the face before fleeing the scene.
Officers launched an investigation shortly afterward, which led to Tracey’s arrest days later.
It is another example of how heated political emotions can boil over when tolerance is preached but rarely practiced.
Tracey now faces a mountain of charges including endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction.
For anyone keeping score, she managed to rack up quite the list over what appears to be nothing more than a show of patriotic pride from a teenager on a family outing.
Law enforcement noted that she is a Canadian citizen who came to the United States in 2024 using a passport.
When asked for comment, her attorney, Francis Hodgsen, had nothing to say.
But her husband did.
He appeared in a tearful social media video pleading for sympathy after his wife was detained by ICE. In his words, “Yesterday July 13, my wife was detained by ICE and brought to Delaney Hall in North New Jersey.”
WATCH:
The irony of an anti ICE outburst ending with an ICE detention practically writes itself.
ICE has confirmed through its official detainee locator that Tracey is being held at the Delaney Hall facility in Newark.
That facility has seen plenty of protest activity from the same kind of activists who rail against immigration enforcement while benefiting from the very laws they despise.
When Fox News Digital reached out to ICE for further comment, officials did not immediately respond.
The confrontation reportedly began on July 3, right as crowds gathered for Independence Day celebrations on the Jersey Shore.
Witnesses told officers that Tracey became visibly agitated after spotting the wording on the teens’ brightly colored sweatpants.
It was a simple patriotic outfit featuring the words Trump and ICE in red, white, and blue.
To most Americans celebrating the holiday, it would have blended right in.
But to Tracey, who seemed determined to make a statement, it triggered a physical altercation.
This sort of political hostility directed at anyone who supports Trump or respects law enforcement has become increasingly common in Democrat-run areas.
Conservatives can wear a hat, shirt, or sticker and immediately become a target for harassment from self proclaimed activists who cannot seem to coexist with people who think differently.
The case of Kaitlyn Tracey is a textbook example.
What makes this particular case even more inflamed is that it involves a minor.
Police confirmed that the victim was a juvenile, making the charges far more serious.
Endangering the welfare of a child is not some petty offense.
It shows premeditated recklessness that the justice system will likely treat harshly.
The fact that Tracey is not an American citizen only deepens the legal complications.
The story might sound absurd, but it fits neatly into a pattern of hostility the left often directs toward Trump supporters.
Whether it is restaurant staff refusing service to conservatives, college students physically silencing peers, or attacks like this one, intolerance is alive and well in the same ranks that claim to champion empathy and inclusion.
When the message does not fit their worldview, the response is anger or, in this case, assault.
Point Pleasant Beach police have not released additional information about the victim, citing her age, but they confirmed the investigation remains active.
Prosecutors are expected to review the evidence, including video footage, before the case moves forward.
Community members who witnessed the event were reportedly left stunned that something so trivial could lead to a violent encounter.
While the left continues to shout about hate crimes, a young conservative teenager cannot even walk down a boardwalk in New Jersey wearing an expression of support for a president without being physically attacked.
What happened to tolerance and free expression?
The answer, as it often is, depends on who is wearing what.
As ICE continues to hold Tracey, one thing is clear. Actions have consequences.
Mocking and hitting a child for wearing clothing with patriotic symbols is not “protest,” it is criminal behavior.
And for once, the activist who claimed to oppose ICE will get a closer look at the immigration system from inside the very center she jeered.
