California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is widely expected to run for president in 2028, has defended California’s use of illegal immigrants for labor—stating that a large percentage of the state’s agricultural and construction workers are undocumented.
Despite his state still struggling to rebuild thousands of homes destroyed by wildfires earlier this year, Newsom appears more focused on defending illegal immigration and maintaining a high public profile.
Breitbart News reports: California Gov. Gavin Newsom spent more than four hours on the Shawn Ryan Show, released Monday — as his state continues to struggle with wildfires, homelessness, illegal immigration, and other urgent crises.
The interview was Newsom’s latest foray into alternative media as he positions himself for a 2028 presidential run, though he continues to deny that’s his intention.
He has also hosted conservative figures on his own podcast.
The interview, conducted in Nashville, covered a wide range of topics, including coronavirus mandates and lockdowns, the Jeffrey Epstein case, the Middle East, Newsom’s childhood, immigration and border enforcement, relations with China, homelessness, presidential politics, housing, his political career, pornography, tariffs, and renewable energy.
Newsom barely mentioned California’s wildfires, except to congratulate himself on the debris removal process—a federal and private effort—and to blame President Donald Trump for fires on federal land.
During the interview, Newsom defended California’s reliance on undocumented labor, claiming that a large portion of workers in agriculture and construction are illegal immigrants.
When asked whether those individuals were taking jobs away from American citizens, he responded:
“I don’t see Americans jumping at those jobs.”

Earlier this week, Newsom also took aim at Vice President J.D. Vance’s family following their vacation trip to Disneyland in California.
During Vice President Vance’s visit to the theme park with his wife and children, around 100 leftist protesters gathered outside to jeer them, according to the Orange County Register.
Various other protests were held throughout Anaheim as the family toured the area.
Over the weekend, a small crowd assembled at the Grand Californian Hotel, where Vance was believed to be staying.
Protesters could be seen waving Mexican flags, a common feature at anti-Trump rallies.
“Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t,” Newsom posted from his official government X account.

The way the free market works, is the price for labor goes up until they can get people to do the job. The price of the product goes up commensurately. Sales drop until they find a balance.
My brother got out of culinary school in the 80s. He worked his way up in kitchens in DC and New York. At the time, you could make a good living as a sous chef in a fine dining kitchen. After decades of illegal immigration, there’s no longer a decent living is the kitchens other than the chef of a successful restaurant. Many of the illegals are good workers, and do a good job, but Americans are just priced out.
Nobody wants any job where normal wages are cut by two thirds. Would anyone do their white collar job for 1/3 the pay. Raise the wages to LEGAL rates and Americans will do the work. Newscum knows this.
Americans did those jobs in the past. There were solid middle class families that made a good living doing those jobs. They were replaced by illegals that would work below market because they were illegal.
Of course there are not any people like Gavin Newsome jumping to take construction or agriculture jobs, he is a freaking multi millionaire who grew up with a gold spoon in his mouth, he has never had to work a day in his life.
There are plenty of American citizens who would love a good paying job in construction where they can see the results of their labor and in agriculture where they know they are contributing to America.
I am so tired of crooked politicians lying and claiming no Americans want these jobs. Every illegal that holds a construction or agriculture job is stealing a job from an American citizen.
I totally agree. I used to clean toilets in high school for the princely sum for $3,.78 cent hr. That was twice what the minimum wage was at the time and the very reason I decided it would be a good way to make some extra money. For $1.98 an hr. I wouldn’t do it. Gavin Good Hair has never held a real job and is being bank rolled by the Gettys. If you saw the story were ICE raided a meat Plant and picked up dozens of illegals working minimum wage , the very next day several hundred people were waiting for the plant to open and American citizens were filling out the job Apps as the Plant then was paying much more for labor that Americans will do for the right level of wages.
Fire Newsom and he can go out and do those jobs!
