Georgia Cop Under Investigation After Telling Man to Leave Women’s Restroom

A DeKalb County Police officer is under internal investigation following a confrontation with a biological male identifying as a woman at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker, Georgia.

The incident took place on October 20 around 6:25 p.m., according to local reports.

The individual, identified as Sasha Swinson, told reporters she was approached by the officer after using the women’s restroom inside the library.

Swinson, a self-identified transgender woman, said the officer instructed her to use either the men’s restroom or the family restroom in the future, citing public safety concerns.

“And he says, ‘Excuse me, sir, next time you have to use the restroom, you’re going to have to go in either the men’s restroom or the family restroom down the hall,’” Swinson told Decaturish.

“And then I politely told him I’ve been using the women’s restroom here for months.”

Swinson said the officer continued speaking without lowering his voice. “And he goes, ‘But you’re not a woman. That’s obvious,’” she recalled.

Swinson claimed she tried to remain calm and asked the officer if he worked for the library. “And he says, ‘What difference does that make? This is a police matter,’” she said.

According to Swinson, the officer became visibly frustrated and raised concerns about public safety, saying, “There are women, little girls in there.”

Swinson said she responded by accusing the officer of being transphobic.

The officer allegedly denied that claim and told her, “You should be thanking me for not taking you in right now.”

The library where the confrontation occurred also serves as an early voting site, which may have explained the presence of law enforcement in the building at the time.

Swinson said she visits public libraries frequently and had never experienced a similar encounter before.

The incident quickly gained attention online after left-leaning advocacy groups, including the Transgender Law Center and Georgia Equality, accused the officer of discrimination.

Both organizations issued statements condemning the officer’s behavior and calling for disciplinary action, asserting that transgender individuals have a “human right” to use restrooms consistent with their gender identity.

Local officials have not confirmed whether any formal complaints have been filed against the officer.

However, the DeKalb County Police Department released a statement acknowledging that its Internal Affairs unit is reviewing the incident.

“Because the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to share additional details at this time,” a police spokesperson said.

“The department remains dedicated to treating all members of our community with dignity, respect, and professionalism.”

The officer involved has not been publicly identified, and it remains unclear whether he has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Swinson’s claims have drawn national attention amid ongoing debates about restroom access and gender identity policies in public spaces.

Supporters of the officer’s actions have argued that the issue reflects broader concerns over privacy and safety for women and minors in public restrooms.

County officials said the building’s facilities remain open to the public while the police department’s internal review continues.

As of Friday, the DeKalb County Police Department had not provided a timeline for completing its investigation.

The outcome could determine whether any disciplinary measures will be taken against the officer or whether the department will uphold his actions as consistent with department policy.

  1. I’ve not been forced to address someone by a trans name but I’ve wondered how many times you would find that their driver’s license has their given name. If they won’t take the time and effort to get the state to call them by their chosen name then why are they demanding I take them seriously?

  2. EXACTLY!

I have asked biological females how they feel about a *man* using the ladies’ room and they all say it makes them “uncomfortable.” However, most women will not say anything because our society has taught them to suffer in silence.

This officer, a REAL man, is being investigated for doing what a REAL man should do: tell a tranny where to go.

Is that discrimination? You bet it is. I don’t need to eat a piece of rotten fruit to know it is unfit.
Is that being “transphobic?” Nope. It’s called being REAL, something many pretend doesn’t really exist.

  3. Women sports are not womens sports if men are allowed
Women bathrooms are not womens bathrooms if men are allowed
May as well remove the “womans” names all together if not going to enforce it.
