A Honduran national living illegally in the United States is facing multiple charges after authorities say he drove drunk and caused a fatal head-on collision that killed a Tennessee woman and left her husband in critical condition, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Officials identified the driver as Julio Cesar Herrera Gonzales, who crashed his Maserati into a Nissan carrying 37-year-old Raquel Lorena Sarabia Baraja and her husband, Marco Antonio Baez Angel, earlier this month on a Nashville highway.
Baraja was pronounced dead at the scene, while Angel remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Fox News that Gonzales entered the United States in 2008 and was granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS). That status was revoked in 2015. Gonzales also has a prior conviction for vandalism.
On August 23, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer against Gonzales to ensure he is not released from custody back into the community. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI, and driving without a license.
In a statement, DHS highlighted the preventable nature of the crime.
“Herrera Gonzales drove drunk and killed Raquel Lorena Sarabia Baraja and left her husband Marco Antonio Baez Del Angel fighting for his life. This criminal illegal is charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI, and driving without a license. ICE issued an arrest detainer on August 23, 2025, to ensure this criminal is not released back into American communities. It seems to be almost a daily occurrence where an illegal alien driving kills innocent Americans. All of these deaths are preventable because these illegal aliens should have NEVER been in our country. President Trump and Secretary Noem will continue to stand with the victims of illegal alien crime and their families.”

The crash adds to a growing list of tragedies involving illegal aliens accused of deadly DUI incidents across the country. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash while the victim’s family awaits justice.
