In the earlier incident in Pennsylvania, ICE officials said an officer fired in self-defense after a vehicle-related confrontation during an enforcement action.
According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene following the shooting, prompting a search by law enforcement.
No additional details about that Pennsylvania investigation were included in the initial statement regarding the Houston case.
Federal immigration enforcement operations have increasingly drawn attention as ICE continues carrying out deportation efforts in multiple states.
During such operations, officers may encounter individuals who attempt to evade arrest, and investigations into uses of force are routinely conducted by appropriate federal authorities.
The FBI’s involvement in the Houston investigation follows standard procedures used in many federal officer-involved shootings.
Investigators are expected to examine physical evidence, interview witnesses, and review any available recordings before determining whether further action is warranted.
Officials have not announced when additional information about the Houston investigation will be released.
The Department of Homeland Security and ICE have not indicated whether any officers involved in the incident were injured.
Authorities also have not released further details about the attempted traffic stop or the enforcement operation that preceded the confrontation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
