California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office has been actively posting about President Donald Trump and his supporters in recent weeks, and one of those efforts drew a sharp response from musician Kid Rock.
The exchange began after Newsom’s press office posted a meme on X showing Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, styled as Uncle Sam in a World War II-era style poster.
The caption on the poster read: “Kid Rock Wants You to Support Gavin Newsom.”
Newsom’s press office added the message, “I ACCEPT! — GCN.”

That post gained wide attention on the platform, receiving more than 4.9 million views. The office followed up with another post tagging Kid Rock by name without further comment.
A few days earlier, Newsom’s office also shared another image showing the governor surrounded by Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson, and Hulk Hogan, depicted with angel wings just days after he passed away.

On Monday, Kid Rock replied on X by reposting the meme and referencing President Trump’s frequent nickname for Newsom.
He wrote: “The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ.”

The posts were part of a broader string of activity from Newsom’s office, which has repeatedly directed attention toward President Trump and his supporters.
In recent weeks, Newsom has posted multiple times on X in capital letters, addressing Trump directly and criticizing Republicans.

Commentary on Newsom’s approach has noted that the governor has shifted heavily toward social media engagement, producing regular podcasts and online content.
Critics argue the strategy is intended to elevate his national profile rather than focus on policy issues within California.
Newsom has also pointed to redistricting efforts, threatening to reshape California’s congressional districts in response to plans in Texas to expand Republican representation.
His press office has continued using X as its main platform to highlight those positions and draw national attention.
Kid Rock’s public reply added to the visibility of the exchanges between Newsom and Trump supporters, which have become a recurring feature of the governor’s social media presence.
Strategic thinking is not in Newscom’s realm and it also seems to not be in anybody else that supports this knee jerk reaction. Texas could easily crank their jerrymandering up to 8 – 10 if they wanted to. Once Newsom and wreaking crew do this it will very likely trigger a chain reaction across the country in numerous red states and leave the democrats with somewhere in the 25 – 28 seat deficient hole that will take many years to climb out of or maybe they regroup and join forces with the Green Party in relative obscurity.
