Unhinged Radical Uses Vehicle to Assault ICE Agents in Chicago

Video released over the weekend shows a driver ramming an Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle in Chicago amid a series of confrontations involving federal officers, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The incident occurred Saturday in heavy traffic when a black SUV struck the rear of an ICE truck and then followed the vehicle before repeatedly hitting its bumper.

DHS said federal personnel drew their firearms to prevent the driver from leaving the scene.

It was not immediately clear if the driver in that incident was apprehended.

The collision came as federal authorities reported additional clashes elsewhere in the city that same day.

According to DHS, Border Patrol agents were boxed in by approximately 10 vehicles during a confrontation involving anti-ICE demonstrators.

During that encounter, agents shot a woman who was described by authorities as armed.

DHS identified the woman as Marimar Martinez and said she was taken into custody.

Another driver, identified as Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, was also arrested in connection with the confrontation.

In a statement describing the events, DHS said, “The scene became increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement.” DHS officials said several Border Patrol agents were injured during the disturbances.

Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS assistant secretary, issued a public statement condemning the attacks and outlining the department’s response.

“These attacks on our brave law enforcement officers must END,” DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

She added that additional federal resources had been authorized for deployment in the city.

“Secretary Noem has taken action to deploy additional resources to restore law and order. We will not allow domestic terrorists to attack our law enforcement,” McLaughlin said. She also stated, “If you lay a hand on law enforcement, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

DHS said the incidents remain under investigation and that federal and local officials are coordinating on criminal charges related to the confrontations.

Authorities did not provide additional details about the condition of the agents who were injured, and DHS did not immediately release further information about the charges facing Martinez or Santos Ruiz.

The agency’s account indicated that the initial collision involving the ICE vehicle occurred in a high-traffic area and was captured on video from multiple angles.

After the black SUV first struck the rear of the ICE truck, DHS said the driver pursued the vehicle and continued making contact with its bumper as surrounding motorists witnessed the scene.

Federal personnel drew their weapons in an effort to control the situation and prevent the suspect from leaving, according to DHS.

In the separate confrontation involving Border Patrol agents, authorities said the situation escalated quickly as additional individuals arrived and used vehicles to impede federal officers. DHS said projectiles and smoke devices were used against agents during the encounter.

The agency described the arrests of Martinez and Santos Ruiz as part of a broader response to restore order and pursue charges for assaults on federal personnel.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem authorized special operations teams to support ongoing efforts in the city, DHS said.

The department indicated that additional units would be focused on officer safety, crowd control, and evidence collection tied to the reported assaults. DHS also said it would refer appropriate cases for prosecution and seek detention for individuals accused of attacking federal officers.

Officials did not release a timetable for additional public updates on the status of the investigations.

DHS said further information would be provided as the cases progress and as medical evaluations of injured agents are completed.

The agency reiterated that assaults on federal officers will be pursued in coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and relevant state and local authorities.

As of Saturday night, DHS said agents had stabilized the scenes, secured evidence, and coordinated the transfer of those arrested to federal custody.

The department did not disclose whether the driver who rammed the ICE vehicle in the initial incident had been identified or located following the encounter.

DHS said updates on arrests, charging decisions, and court filings would be released through standard public information channels when available.

  1. None of these arrests matter if Leftist prosecutors and judges don’t follow through with appropriate charges and sentences. There has got to be a mechanism to remove them from those positions.

  2. Let me guess: this is more of that `even illegal means if necessary` that Antifa leader Bray was warning us all about. That guy left the country but this fool is going away.

  3. Automatic 10 year sentence and if a firearm is involved. 25 to life for physically attacking a federal law enforance emt officer. Stop, playing games. They want a government overreaction to try to get sympathy from the population. Its in the Rules for radicals to provoke a uprising. These are communists and have to be treated as such.
