Zohran Mamdani Refuses to Denounce Hamas After Netanyahu Vows to Eliminate Terrorists

Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani declined to condemn Hamas when pressed on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s vow to destroy the terror group and secure the release of hostages, as reported by The New York Post.

His refusal came Friday following Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Asked directly whether he agreed with Netanyahu’s description of Hamas as a terrorist organization that must be eradicated, Mamdani said, “I am not going to echo the words of Benjamin Netanyahu.”

New York State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani speaks in a Malikah’s Iftar Ramadan event at the Museum of the Moving Image on March 07, 2025 in the Queens Borough of New York City.

Instead, Mamdani said his politics were based on “universality,” referencing statements from hostage families. “I can think of no better illustration of that than from the words of the hostage families themselves: Everyone for everyone,” Mamdani told reporters.

Mamdani criticized Netanyahu’s remarks, accusing him of exploiting the plight of hostages.

“What has been so infuriating to me and so many New Yorkers, frankly, is Benjamin Netanyahu’s use of the hostages as a justification to continue a war that has only continued to endanger the lives of those very hostages, as well as of so many Palestinians,” he said.

Netanyahu, in his UN speech, argued that Hamas must be defeated to prevent future atrocities similar to those committed on October 7, 2023. He also rejected the recognition of a Palestinian state, a move several U.S. allies had taken prior to the General Assembly.

Mamdani also criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who attended Netanyahu’s speech in person. Dozens of delegates staged walkouts before Netanyahu began speaking, but Adams remained and later praised the Israeli leader.

“To have a mayor who went to the United Nations to watch his address and then thank Benjamin Netanyahu for defending the Western world and our way of life, those are the words that Eric Adams shared, I can’t even begin to explain the offense that that brings to New Yorkers across the five boroughs,” Mamdani said.

He further questioned the morality of Israel’s military campaign. “How can we describe the killing of a child once an hour, every hour for close to two years as a defense of our way of life? That is not a way of life that any of us practice in this city,” Mamdani said.

“What we want in this city is dignity for all, and the hostage families have given us an understanding of how to showcase that.”

Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist and outspoken critic of Israel, has previously labeled the country an apartheid state and voiced support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

He has also vowed to direct the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu if the prime minister visits New York City.

Recently, Mamdani signaled his opposition to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, claiming it equates criticism of Israel and Zionism with antisemitism.

The IHRA definition describes antisemitism as “a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews.”

The Post reported that Mamdani’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment following his refusal to denounce Hamas.

And says the Lord of Hosts, Florida, says the Lord, Florida. HIGH ALERT, SAYS THE LORD, HIGH ALERT! Leadership must be sober-minded and vigilant, says the Lord, for they seek to move in a string of attacks up the east coast, says the Lord. An underground railroad has been established to move weapons and supplies. They shall attempt an attack in NYC to attempt to sculpt a hero out of the mayor’s race, says the Lord. They shall plot such an attack to attempt to shake the city in order to lay claim to a seat, says the Lord, that the enemy is laying claim to, says the Lord, for the sorcery and blood shed and grave sin concentrated within New York City, the enemy has claimed rights to such and to place his disciple upon such a seat, says the Lord.

However, says the Lord, their plot shall be found out their players exposed one candidate shall be greatly exposed for taking large sums of money from terrorist organizations, says the Lord, and the deal was made to give them a hub and a center in New York City to be their Mecca, says the Lord, they are eyeing a Mecca in your nation, says the Lord. Their pilgrimage is on the move, says the Lord, and a great shaking shall occur in New York City of such it shall shake New York, says the Lord,…

only in a state full of morons could such a man seek the office that he is and be a serious contender

  3. Every country has the right to protect its sovereignty and its people. If Israel feels it necessary to do so, then it’s their god-given right to do so. From what I’ve been reading/hearing Palestine has no issue with Israel and basically would prefer they win the war with Hamas who it’s told, does not treat Palestinians well in any way – but the Israelites do and Palestinians see them as their friends. All this online and ongoing bull needs to stop and allow folks to breathe. If only we still had investigative news reporters with proof of what they report, life would be easier for everyone but all we get are bloggers who make a living via headlines whether true or not – scary indeed.
